Contribution to Wildlife conservation since last 3 yrs: Have done and continuing extensive field research on Ecology <br />
and conservation of the critically threatened Hangul (Cervus elaphus hanglu) deer in Kashmir mountains. <br />
Have been teaching for <strong>Zoo</strong> and Wildlife Management students of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry and <br />
Forestry since 2007. <br />
Organized a state level workshop at Srinagar, Kashmir under Indian Bird Conservation Network (IBCN) in June 2007 <br />
as State coordinator IBCN Programme of BNHS-‐RSPB-‐Continuing the activities of IBCN as State Coordinator. <br />
Carried out Avian Influenza Monitoring and Surveillance surveys of the Waterfowl in Kashmir Wetlands under BNHS-‐<br />
MOEF (Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India Project during winter (Nov till Apr 2005-‐06 & 2006-‐07). <br />
Carrying out studies on the Phylogenetic aspects, disease and health status of captive Wild animals at Mini <strong>Zoo</strong> <br />
Pahalgam, Kashmir since April 2008. <br />
Commitments to conservation for next 3 yrs: Submitted Research project proposals on Tibetan antelope ecological <br />
studies in Ladakh, India, wetlands, waterfowl ecology and climate change studies in Jammu Kashmir to different <br />
agencies for financial assistance. <br />
Would like to continue studies on aspects of Phylogenetic assessments, Disease monitoring and surveillance of <br />
Mammalian and avian Wildlife, Assisted reproduction, Conservation breeding, successful species recovery and <br />
reintroduction programme in endangered species such as Hangul or Kashmir deer that is endemic to Kashmir <br />
mountains. <br />
Would like to impart as much as possible knowledge and education to the Veterinary, Forestry graduates and <br />
postgraduates. <br />
Would like to extend education and awareness amongst the educated and uneducated officials and common people, <br />
the values of natural resources and their sustainable use and effective conservation.s <br />
Species of special interest: Hangul or Kashmir deer, Tibetan antelope or Chiru, Red deer and other Mountain <br />
Ungulates, Himalayan wolf, Snow leopard, Waterfowl and Forest birds.
