CURRICULUM VITAE
Marc S. Stewart
Senior Physicist
Applied Physics Laboratory
University of Washington
1013 NE 40 th Street
Seattle, Washington 98105-6698
Education
B.S., Biology, Pennsylvania State University – 1977
M.S., Applied Physics, Naval Post Graduate School – 1994
Relevant Experience
In 1999 Marc completed a career as a Naval officer serving in both submarines and as an
engineering duty officer. As an acquisition professional within the Engineering Duty
Officer community, he concluded Naval service having led design work for the Virginia
Class submarine and the transition of developmental anti-submarine warfare technology
into Navy acquisition programs.
At the Applied Physics Laboratory, University of Washington, Mr. Stewart has
developed systems for collecting, assessing, and applying environmental data to enhance
the decision making process for the employment of acoustic sensors. He pioneered the
Navy introduction of glider-AUV technology and directed complex Persistent Littoral
Undersea Surveillance (PLUSNet) sea trials involving numerous acoustically networked
fixed and mobile sensors and.
He is leading a multi-year applied research program that optimizes the placement and
operation of active acoustic sensor systems with the Navy’s air and surveillance ASW
communities.
