Note on Coordinates: The pressure and velocity derivatives are expressed<br />

with respect to a rectangular coordinate system with the origin at the North Pole, the<br />

x axis coinciding with the Greenwich meridian, and the y axis with the 90 ❍ E<br />

meridian. The transformation from latitude and longitude to x and y is as follows:<br />

x = 110.949 (90 - lat) cos (long)<br />

y = 110.949 (90 - lat) sin (long)<br />

where x and y are in kilometers and latitude and longitude are in degrees.<br />
