4. Richard – Flex Workshop Idea and Mendocino Course Scheduling and Offerings
Richard wanted to get the department’s thoughts on approaching the philosophy
department about co-listing Logic with math so that he could teach a logic class down in
Mendocino. There currently is no one to teach such a class in Mendocino. Richard
taught such a class down south. Todd and Richard are going to work together on a draft
of a new course. Erin expressed concern with philosophy department needing to be
consulted. Others thought we didn’t need to and we would if Curriculum Committee
would require this. When Richard had done work on such a class down at Norco, he
looked into articulation with CSU and UC. He found that some would require
humanities and others require math listing of a Logics course. Richard said, co-listing
would be very beneficial for students. This option of course would require consultation
with philosophy. Richard did have an equivalency at Norco in philosophy. The thought
is that he could get an FSA in philosophy and then teach the course as it is now defined.
Then Richard and Todd could pursue getting the current course or creating a new math
logic course that’s co-listed with math and philosophy. Right now there is no one
teaching philosophy in Mendocino. Maybe Todd and Richard could work with
philosophy full-timer in Del Norte to develop a co-listed course.
Also, wondering if we are interested in having a demo of mathematical software, called
graphing calculator, that was donated to Mendocino Campus. Donated 10 site licenses

for it. We would need to purchase more if we wanted to have it hear. Put out by Pacific
Tech. It was decided that at this time we have sufficient access to satisfactory graphing
technology.
