NOSE ART
Begin with a cheat; this is on the U.K. Grumpy, now gone
Stateside. Nevertheless a Grumpy must have pride of
place. On the starboard side
of the
original’s nose was the crest of the
City of Derby; the city to which
she was linked when 98 Squadron
was formed. The original
personnel who were still available
after the war were individually
presented with a city of Derby
brooch. There cannot be many around, Reg
has one; if you know of any City of Derby
crest
other holders we could publish a list. Alf Martin was a founder member,
whether he has one, I do not know.
Left: ‘ Sneezy’ & her ground crew. Right: F/L L. Bell &
F/O R. Rogerson, about to board.
