Kaynemaile: Reward of the Rings
Despite consistent protestations from
experienced plastic moulders, Art Director
of Creatures, Armour and Weapons for “The
Lord of the Rings”, Kayne Horsham, believed
he could still invent a continuously injection
moulded, seamless chainmail mesh. Finally,
he found technical support through Agmar
Tools and later Talbot Plastics. Several
years of R&D and considerable capital
investment has resulted in a world first
architectural translucent mesh system
called ‘Kaynemaile seamless mesh’.
Recently awarded the 2007 IF Materials
Award (International Federation of Design), it
received a finalist nomination for Germany’s
official design award, DesignPreis 2008.
