ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS .....continued<br />

TECHNOLOGICAL STUDIES BASIC QUALIFICATIONS<br />

Prerequisites:<br />

For applicants who already have Technological Studies listed on their Ontario College of Teachers’ Certificate of <strong>Qualification</strong>:<br />

1) A photocopy of your current Ontario College of Teachers’ Certificate of <strong>Qualification</strong> or Interim Certificate of <strong>Qualification</strong>. This<br />

Certificate must have an entry in a Basic Technological Studies subject.<br />

For applicants who DO NOT have Technological Studies listed on their Ontario College of Teachers’ Certificate of <strong>Qualification</strong>, the<br />

prerequisites are detailed in the Technological Studies Information Booklet which is available at:<br />

www.oise.utoronto.ca/aq/download/TechBooklet-06.pdf. Applicants are responsible for reading the Technological Studies<br />

Information Booklet and for ensuring they have met the admission requirements stated in the Booklet before applying.<br />

TECHNOLOGICAL STUDIES ADVANCED QUALIFICATIONS<br />

Prerequisites:<br />

1) A photocopy of your current Ontario College of Teachers’ Certificate of <strong>Qualification</strong> or Interim Certificate of <strong>Qualification</strong><br />

showing proof of a basic level qualification in the same subject.<br />

2) Provide proof of one year of work experience or education or a combination of education and business or industrial<br />

experience in the area of intended qualification.<br />

3) Proof of a relevant two or three-year diploma or the equivalent from a College of Applied Arts and Technology or Polytechnic<br />

Institute or University, or the relevant MTCU trade Certificate of <strong>Qualification</strong> (C of Q), accompanied by the examination details<br />

showing at least 70% (B) standing.<br />

TECHNOLOGICAL STUDIES HONOUR SPECIALIST<br />

Prerequisites:<br />

1) A photocopy of your current Ontario College of Teachers’ Certificate of <strong>Qualification</strong> or Interim Certificate of <strong>Qualification</strong> showing<br />

one of the following:<br />

- Three Basic Technological Studies qualifications plus one at the Advanced level. The entry at the Advanced level must correspond<br />

to one of the Basic Technological Studies qualifications (a total of four additional qualifications).<br />

- Four Basic Technological Studies qualifications and a three-part (Specialist) qualification.<br />

Note: Design and Technology or Industrial Arts, Part 1 or Computer Studies - Computer Technology may be used as one Basic<br />

entry.<br />

2) Evidence of at least two years of successful teaching experience, including one year of experience in Ontario in Technological<br />

Studies. This experience must be certified by the appropriate Supervisory Officer on the OISE Certification of Teaching Experience<br />

Form.<br />

3) Official transcripts showing proof of successful completion of one of the following:<br />

- Grade 13 or 6 OACs.<br />

- Five full university degree credit courses. <strong>Courses</strong> credited towards teaching certification or additional teaching qualifications<br />

cannot be used for this requirement.<br />

- One year of full-time study at a C.A.A.T. which required a Secondary School Graduation Diploma for admission.<br />

PRINCIPAL’S QUALIFICATIONS PROGRAM<br />

Prerequisites for PQP Part 1:<br />

1) A photocopy of your current Ontario College of Teachers’ Certificate of <strong>Qualification</strong> showing basic qualifications in three (3)<br />

divisions (including an Intermediate Basic divisional qualification).<br />

2) Official university transcript(s) showing that an acceptable university degree has been conferred.<br />

3) Evidence of one of the following:<br />

a. Successful completion of an acceptable Master’s or Doctorate degree.<br />

b. Two (2) Three Session Specialist or Honour Specialist <strong>Additional</strong> <strong>Qualification</strong>s.<br />

c. One (1) Three Session Specialist or Honour Specialist <strong>Additional</strong> <strong>Qualification</strong> and an official transcript showing successful<br />

completion of at least half the number of courses required to qualify for an acceptable Master’s degree from an accredited<br />

university. Since graduate programs vary in course requirements and duration, a letter from the University confirming that you<br />

have successfully completed at least half the number of courses to qualify for an acceptable Master’s degree is also required.<br />

4) Evidence of at least five (5) years of successful teaching experience as certified by an appropriate Supervisory Officer on the<br />

Principal’s <strong>Qualification</strong> Program Certification of Teaching Experience Form available on our Web site:<br />

Prerequisites for PQP Part 2:<br />

1) A photocopy of your current Ontario College of Teachers’ Certificate of <strong>Qualification</strong> showing successful completion of the<br />

Principal’s <strong>Qualification</strong> Program - Part 1 qualification.<br />

2) A letter on official letterhead from the provider of PQP Part 1 certifying successful completion of the Principal’s Course<br />

Practicum.<br />
