International Non-governmental Organisations
Welcome
At Crowe Clark Whitehill, we recognise that
International Non-governmental Organisations
(INGOs) have special issues in addition to those
faced by charities that operate in the UK alone.
INGOs have to meet the increasing legislative and
regulatory demands in both the UK and overseas.
Working in demanding environments, INGOs
must be able to react rapidly whilst remaining
accountable to funders and other stakeholders.
Problems arise quickly, often with devastating
impact. When the greater threat to value is not
what has gone wrong, but what could go wrong,
INGOs need to work with specialists who are
forward-looking, understand the operating
environment and provide reliable assurance.
As a top ten UK audit practice, Crowe Clark
Whitehill has the largest team of true specialists
working in the Non-Profit sector. There are 20
partners and over 100 staff who specialise in
the sector. The related areas such as VAT, tax,
risk management and IT services are strong
and sector focused. The Non-Profit sector
represents over 30% of our business.
We are a member of Crowe Horwath
International, ranked ninth among global
accounting firms and associations. This is a
network of accounting and management
consulting firms, with over 650 offices
throughout the world.
In addition, we provide services in many
countries where we do not have a physical
location. We are able to provide coverage
for our INGO clients in all the remote locations
they work. In particular, we have specialist
teams working throughout Africa, Asia and
South America. The Not for Profit sector is a
core specialism in our international network
and our partners and staff have much
experience of the issues facing INGOs.
Each firm is well established as a leader in
its national community and is staffed by
nationals, guaranteeing a knowledge of the
local environment, laws and customs which
is important to our clients.
We have real experience and hands on expertise
of working with INGOs and members of our
team have worked for INGOs both in the UK
and overseas. Our clients include many of the
UK’s leading INGOs and their local partners.
We also carry out services for funding agencies
and multilateral donor organisations. Our team
members regularly visit INGO offices and
programmes overseas and we have a real
understanding and demonstrable experience
of the operating realities.
