A <strong>Night</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Elegance</strong><br />
Dear Friends,<br />
We are very excited about the new location for our annual Guardian Angel<br />
Dinner & Auction. Bringing this key fundraising event into our school enables us to<br />
recognize all the good that the Guardian Angel Dinner & Auction has done over the<br />
years. This room itself has seen numerous improvements over the years, principally<br />
the new ro<strong>of</strong> and new floor. The technology improvements in our building are able<br />
to be showcased for your enjoyment. In so many ways the Guardian Angel Dinner<br />
& Auction has helped us provide a <strong>Catholic</strong> Education for our students. They are<br />
the reason for what we do and we are now celebrating in the place where our<br />
children learn to be Disciples <strong>of</strong> the Lord.<br />
Your presence tonight is a verification <strong>of</strong> the fine work being done by<br />
administrators, teachers and staff in creating a community <strong>of</strong> learning. That community<br />
would be sorely lacking if it did not have you, the parents, grandparents<br />
and benefactors, to count as key members. Together we can forge ahead and make our school a<br />
great one. This year we opened with over 400 students and began the school year as an Accredited School<br />
in the State <strong>of</strong> Nebraska. An important part <strong>of</strong> being accredited is that we look for signs and pro<strong>of</strong> that we<br />
are indeed doing a fine job forming our youth: teaching them how to love, think, communicate, and share.<br />
In recent test scores our students ranked well ahead <strong>of</strong> the average in almost all categories. But we will not<br />
stop there. There are always ways to improve instruction and we will use every means possible to help our<br />
youth graduate, possessing the skills and sound values that will form a foundation for them to become adults<br />
in the church and the world.<br />
I thank you for coming to our Guardian Angel Dinner & Auction. I hope you have a great time and<br />
we can raise lots <strong>of</strong> money for our School.<br />
We also use this occasion to bid goodbye to our retiring principal, Mr. Dave Garland, who has given<br />
most <strong>of</strong> his education career to the children <strong>of</strong> this school. God Bless you, Mr. Garland, and we honor<br />
you with a special salute.<br />

A Message from our Principal<br />
Dear St. <strong>Gerald</strong> School Families and Friends,<br />
Thank you so much for supporting our St. <strong>Gerald</strong> Guardian Angel Dinner<br />
& Auction! Some <strong>of</strong> you have joined us in the past, and for some <strong>of</strong> you, this<br />
is your first experience with our fun evening. This is such a great way to raise<br />
money for our school and parish. Being together for a night <strong>of</strong> good food and<br />
fellowship is well worth all <strong>of</strong> the hard work that goes into putting this event<br />
together.<br />
This year we are excited about raising money that will be used in several<br />
areas <strong>of</strong> our school. We are planning on adding more technology (a mobile laptop lab) to our school.<br />
Your generous donations from the evening will help finance these projects. Please know that all <strong>of</strong><br />
your help is greatly appreciated!<br />
Thank you also to the many volunteers who have worked so hard to make this evening such a big<br />
success! We could not have gotten this all done without your help!! God bless you all!!!<br />

ABOUT TONIGHT’S<br />
CATERER<br />
Chef Luis Palacio is the owner <strong>of</strong> Café L (96 th &<br />
L Streets) and was previously the Banquet Manager <strong>of</strong><br />
the Downtown Hilton, as well as the Service Manager<br />
<strong>of</strong> both Happy Hollow Country Club and the Omaha<br />
Country Club.<br />
Executive Chef Lionel Have was the Chef <strong>of</strong><br />
the Omaha Country Club for 25 years, a private chef<br />
for Boomer Esiason, and Chef <strong>of</strong> the French Café in<br />
the 1980s.<br />
Executive Chef Tom Shaw was the Chef <strong>of</strong><br />

2013 Guardian Angel Dinner & Auction<br />
BIDDERS CAN CONTRIBUTE CASH<br />
AT FOUR GIVING LEVELS<br />
We are thrilled to continue a donation program introduced<br />
at the 2001 Guardian Angel Auction & Dinner and introduce an exciting<br />
new change for 2013. This program allows individuals to make<br />
cash donations at one <strong>of</strong> four different levels.<br />
During the Live Auction, bidding will begin at the $1,000<br />
Guardian Angel Level and proceed until all levels have been completed.<br />
Bidders can accept a bid called by the auctioneer, at any level,<br />
by raising their bid cards. Bidders are also asked to complete a pledge<br />
card, located at your table. Volunteers will collect the pledge cards<br />
from your table as bidding concludes.<br />
Cash donations corresponding to each level received outside<br />
<strong>of</strong> the live auction (either prior to or after the auction) will be<br />
recognized at the different levels <strong>of</strong> giving outlined below.<br />
The first three donation levels (Guardian Angel, Angel <strong>of</strong><br />
Love, and Angel <strong>of</strong> Faith) will be displayed at St. <strong>Gerald</strong> School, with<br />
donor names inscribed on a plaque.<br />
We have added a new giving level for 2013, “St. <strong>Gerald</strong><br />
Pride Paw.” For every $100 donation, the donor name will be displayed<br />
on a paw print in the Father Foster Gymnasium for the 2013-<br />
2014 school year.<br />

1. Each bidder is assigned a bid number. Use only the<br />
bid number assigned to you. You are responsible for<br />
any bid made with your number.<br />
2. All bids are final. No refunds or exchanges will<br />
be made.<br />
3. Payment for all winning bids will be required at the<br />
close <strong>of</strong> the auction.<br />
4. Registration for Quick Check-Out is available<br />
from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the library (Check In). Any<br />
guests paying with credit card this year (Visa, Master-<br />
Card or Discover are accepted) will swipe their card<br />
when checking in and sign their slip. That’s all there<br />
is to it! No checking out. No waiting in line to sign<br />
your credit card slip. Just go to the Chapel with your<br />
invoice and pick up your purchases.<br />
Any items purchased during the evening will be<br />
charged to your card and shown on your invoice<br />
delivered to your table. If you do not make any<br />
purchases, no action will occur.<br />
If you’ve not used your credit card before for payment,<br />
we encourage you to experience the speed and<br />
convenience <strong>of</strong> Quick Check-Out this year.<br />
5. If you make a group purchase, please ensure<br />
all parties are present when you see the cashiers.<br />

6. Values printed for items being auctioned are good<br />
faith estimates <strong>of</strong> fair market value as required by IRS<br />
disclosure regulations. Any amount paid beyond the<br />

7. St. <strong>Gerald</strong> Parish makes no express or implied<br />

Accounting <strong>of</strong>fice will be closed after the first auction area closes to process bids.<br />
No early payments before the close <strong>of</strong> the Live Auction please.<br />
Live Auction Rules<br />

and continue until all items have been sold.<br />
2. Each auction item is numbered. The auctioneer<br />
will call out the numbered item and give a brief<br />
description. Bidders can accept a bid called by the<br />

3. After the final bid, a runner will bring a contract<br />
to the successful bidder, who will provide name, bid<br />
number and signature verifying the successful bid.<br />
4. After the conclusion <strong>of</strong> the Live Auction, all<br />

Live Auction purchases. A designated runner will<br />
bring an invoice to the successful bidders. Quick<br />
