GUIDELINES FOR FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENTS AT PHS<br />

<strong>Plymouth</strong> High <strong>School</strong> will accept exchange students under the following<br />

circumstances:<br />

1. Student is enrolled with either AFS, Cultural Exchange, or Youth For<br />

Understanding exchange programs.<br />

2. Arrangements are made in advance with the high school principal.<br />

3. Any other circumstances will only be accepted upon review by the high<br />

school principal and the members of the world language department.<br />

Foreign exchange students are required to take US History and one year of<br />

English. It is highly recommended to take courses in all four core areas.<br />

Foreign exchange students are expected to follow the <strong>Orange</strong> <strong>Guide</strong><br />

behavioral guidelines for all students.<br />

Providing school lunches for students in a foreign exchange program is the<br />

responsibility of the host family.<br />

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS<br />

PLYMOUTH SCHOOL DISTRICT GRADUATION POLICY<br />

To qualify for a <strong>Plymouth</strong> High <strong>School</strong> Diploma a student must complete all<br />

requirements identified below.<br />

TOTAL REQUIRED CREDITS - 26<br />

English 4.0 Physical Education 1.5 (over 3 years)<br />

Social Studies 3.0 Health/First Aid/CPR 0.5<br />

Mathematics 3.0 Personal Finance 0.5<br />

(.5 credits of geometry) Career Portfolio Completion by Senior Year<br />

Science 3.0<br />

(1 credit of biology & 1 credit phy sci or chemistry)<br />

Other conditions related to graduation requirements:<br />

Every student will be required to take at least 6.5 credits each year. A<br />

minimum of 6.5 credits will be needed to attain sophomore status, 13 credits for<br />

junior status, and 19.5 credits for senior status. Parents may choose to opt their<br />

student out of the human growth and development portion of the health<br />

curriculum. Written requests should be submitted to the student’s counselor.<br />

EARLY GRADUATION<br />

Juniors may apply to graduate one semester early based on extenuating<br />

circumstances. All graduation requirements must be met and must be approved<br />

by administration.<br />
