The pattern is not perfectly iambic. Notice that there are a few anapestic and<br />
trochaic rhythms thrown in. This is a good mixture that saves the poem from<br />
becoming too mechanical and forces the reader to slow down and pay more<br />
attention to the lines that show the poet’s thoughts on war.<br />
