Zach Brown was drafted by the Titans in the<br />

second round (52nd overall) of the 2012 <strong>NFL</strong> Draft.<br />

In four seasons at North Carolina, Brown started<br />

23 of 47 games, including 11 starts at weakside<br />

outside linebacker and 12 starts at the strongside<br />

spot. He recorded 230 tackles, 5.5 sacks, seven interceptions,<br />

19 tackles for loss, six quarterback pressures,<br />

three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and<br />

four passes defensed.<br />

As a senior, Brown was a Butkus Award semifinalist<br />

and earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference<br />

first-team honors, as he led the team with a careerhigh<br />

105 tackles. He also ranked second on the<br />

squad with 5.5 sacks and 13.5 stops for loss.<br />

The Columbia, Md., native was considered the<br />

fastest linebacker available in the 2012 <strong>NFL</strong> Draft.<br />

He was timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.44 seconds at the <strong>NFL</strong> Scouting<br />

Combine and in 4.37 seconds at his pro day.<br />

2012 Highlights:<br />

‣ ¾ Against New England (9/9), made his regular-season <strong>NFL</strong> debut as a<br />

reserve and posted two tackles, including a tackle for loss.<br />

‣ ¾ At San Diego (9/16), recorded his first career start at weakside linebacker<br />

and responded with 10 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. In the<br />

third quarter, he sacked Philip Rivers for a five-yard loss and forced a fumble<br />

on the play, but the ball was recovered by the Chargers.<br />

‣ ¾ At Houston (9/30), started for the third consecutive week and posted<br />

four tackles.<br />

‣ ¾ At Minnesota (10/7), started for the fourth consecutive week and<br />

posted seven tackles.<br />

‣ ¾ Against Pittsburgh (10/11), started for the fifth consecutive week and<br />

recorded four tackles and one pass defensed.<br />

‣ ¾ At Buffalo (10/21), posted three tackles, including a tackle for loss.<br />

‣ ¾ Against Indianapolis (10/28), tallied four tackles and a quarterback<br />

pressure.<br />

‣ ¾ Against Chicago (11/4), led the defense with 11 tackles and two tackles<br />

for loss and added a fumble recovery. He recorded his first career takeaway<br />

by recovering a Jay Cutler fumble in the second quarter.<br />

‣ ¾ At Miami (11/11), posted six tackles and his first career interception. In<br />

the fourth quarter, he stepped in front of a Ryan Tannehill pass and returned<br />

the ball 47 yards to help set up a Titans field goal.<br />

‣ ¾ At Jacksonville (11/25), led the Titans with nine tackles and recorded<br />

1.5 sacks. He recorded a two-yard sack in the first quarter, and in the third<br />

quarter, he shared a nine-yard sack with Kamerion Wimbley.<br />

‣ ¾ Against Houston (12/2), registered five tackles.<br />

‣ ¾ At Indianapolis (12/9), posted four tackles, a quarterback pressure<br />

and a pass defensed.<br />

‣ ¾ Against the New York Jets (12/17), he tied for the team lead with<br />

eight tackles, led the squad with three tackles for loss, recorded a pair of<br />

sacks and added a fumble recovery. In the second quarter, he sacked Tim<br />

Tebow for a two-yard loss, and in the third quarter, he dropped Mark Sanchez<br />

for a seven-yard loss. He also notched the game-clinching takeaway,<br />

recovering a fumble by Sanchez in Titans territory with less than a minute<br />

remaining in the fourth quarter. Brown’s effort earned him “Gruden Grinder”<br />

honors from Monday Night Football broadcaster Jon Gruden.<br />

Colin McCarthy is in his second season since<br />

being drafted by the Titans in the fourth round (109th<br />

overall) of the 2011 <strong>NFL</strong> Draft.<br />

In his rookie season, the former Miami Hurricane<br />

entered the starting lineup after midseason and<br />

made a significant impact on the Titans defense. His<br />

totals included 76 tackles, a team-high eight tackles<br />

for loss, one quarterback pressure, one interception,<br />

three passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two<br />

fumble recoveries. Although he started in less than<br />

half of the team’s games, his tackle total was the<br />

fourth-highest by a Titans rookie since 1999.<br />

McCarthy played in 49 games during his career<br />

at Miami (2006-10), tied for the sixth-most in school<br />

history and only three behind Brandon Meriweather’s<br />

all-time mark. His 35 starts and 308 career<br />

tackles were the most by a Miami linebacker since<br />

Jonathan Vilma (37, 371).<br />

A native of Philadelphia, Pa., who moved to Tampa, Fla., prior to high<br />

school, McCarthy led the Hurricanes and ranked third in ACC with 119 tackles<br />

as a senior. He also led the team with four quarterback hurries and<br />

earned honorable mention All-ACC honors.<br />

‣ ¾ Against New England (9/9), posted five tackles prior to leaving the<br />

game with an ankle injury.<br />

‣ ¾ At San Diego (9/16), against Detroit (9/23) and at Houston (9/30),<br />

he was inactive with an ankle injury.<br />

‣ ¾ At Minnesota (10/7), returned from an ankle injury to start at middle<br />

linebacker. He tallied eight tackles.<br />

‣ ¾ Against Pittsburgh (10/11), finished second on the squad with eight<br />

tackles.<br />

‣ ¾ At Buffalo (10/21), he was inactive due to an ankle injury for the fourth<br />

time in 2012.<br />

‣ ¾ Against Indianapolis (10/28), tied for the team lead with 11 tackles<br />

and two tackles for loss. He added a pass defensed.<br />

‣ ¾ Against Chicago (11/4), totaled five tackles.<br />

‣ ¾ At Miami (11/11), posted four tackles, one tackle for loss and an interception<br />

for a touchdown. In the second quarter, he intercepted a Ryan Tannehill<br />

pass that was initially tipped by fellow linebacker Akeem Ayers. Mc-<br />

Carthy then raced 49 yards for his first career touchdown. It was the team’s<br />

first interception for a touchdown since Jordan Babineaux’s 97-yarder at<br />

Cleveland on Oct. 2, 2011.<br />
