DESCRIPTION
New York’s landmark hotel on Central Park at Fifth Avenue reopened
June 1, 2009 following a $100 million renovation to create new
guestroom and bath interiors and to reconfigure first floor public areas
to accommodate a new restaurant, Le Caprice, as well as Two E, a new
bar/lounge, and a graciously welcoming reception area.
Fine arts consultant Mortimer Chatterjee selected contemporary Indian
artwork to complement every guestroom interior. He also chose striking
contemporary masterpieces from the extensive art collection of the Taj
flagship hotel in Mumbai, the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, to adorn first
floor public spaces.
The restored 1930s Georgian-style building features old-world charm
and modern-day amenities and services. Perfectly situated across the
street from Central Park, the 41-story Pierre is steps away from the
renowned shopping on Fifth and Madison Avenues, museums and
cultural centers, and the businesses of Midtown Manhattan.

GUEST ROOMS
A total of 189 rooms, including 49 suites, each with a distinctive interior
and the air of a private residence. The hotel also features 11 Grand
Suites, one-of-a-kind, apartment-like quarters, some with full dining
rooms, park views and spacious terraces.
DINING Two E, named for its location at 2 East 61 st Street, is a modern
destination bar and lounge open daily from 11 a.m. - 1 a.m., serving
classic cocktails, lunch, traditional afternoon tea, desserts and coffee.
The club-style space, formerly executive offices, retains its original
architectural details and is highlighted by a sophisticated design
featuring a striking bronze bar as its centerpiece and an eclectic mix of
custom furnishings in warm woods, with scattered groupings of chairs,
upholstered armchairs and banquettes adjoining low pedestal tables.
Tabletop elements feature a return of the original Pierre hotel crest.
Le Caprice, the hotel’s new brasserie-style restaurant. The first U.S.
location for this popular U.K. favorite serves breakfast, lunch and dinner
daily, as well as weekend brunch. The Upper East Side community
gains a new ”it” place to dish and dine on updated comfort foods, all
while keeping company with Jean Shrimpton, whose stylish 1960s black
and white photos by David Bailey will adorn the walls. The interior
design is the work of Swedish designer Martin Brudnizki, who can list
Scott’s, Wentworth Grill, J Sheekey Oyster Bar and The Club at The Ivy
among his achievements.
EVENT SPACE
For more than seven decades, The Pierre’s beautiful public rooms have
hosted New York’s most notable corporate, social, cultural and civic
events with the presence of distinguished visitors from all over the
world.
With 18,000 square feet of space and six distinctive public rooms, The
Pierre can accommodate events of any scale, from a small conference
to a banquet for 800 people. The rooms offer the exclusivity of a private
entrance, trompe l’oeil murals and Central Park views. The Grand
Ballroom was renovated in 2007.

Business groups hosting meetings and receptions at The Pierre may
select from three new comfortably elegant spaces with state-of-the-art
amenities that can accommodate groups up to 75. All three rooms are
on the fourth floor adjacent to the Business Center.

with hand-painted murals and Italian marble, and provides

Elliptical Trainers, Stairmasters and treadmills are equipped with
individual stereo and television/VCRs. Shower facilities are provided.
