FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASETHE OPPOSITE HOUSE IN BEIJING PRESENTS OPPOSITEHOUSE VOL 3 CD“Khurden” oil painting album cover art by Batzorig DugarsurenBEIJING (May 2011) – Following the well-received Oppositehouse Vol 1 and Vol 2, TheOpposite House in Beijing has released Oppositehouse Vol 3, a third CD of ten eclectictracks by some of China’s most exciting and talented musicians. Unlike the first two, thisthird limited edition album has been specially created for guests to enjoy in-house or totake away as a gift (not available for sale).“Every Oppositehouse album has a different personality; the third one is a little earthier, but still showcases how new urban folk music is being developed by talented Chinesemusicians. We appreciate the contribution of the artists and Universal for putting togetherthese authentic and expressive tracks,” said Anthony Ross, General Manager of TheOpposite House. The ten artists featured on the album have very diverse musical backgrounds, includingHanggai, who pioneered China’s folk rock scene, mixing rock guitars with throat singing;Zhou Yunpeng, China’s most popular independent folk singer and campaigner for visuallyimpaired children and Shanren, who aims to promote and preserve the heritage of diverseminority groups. Oppositehouse Vol 3 provides an insightful perspective into how today’smusicians draw upon the sounds and moods of their ancestors, combining these withmodern twists. The “Khurden” oil painting on the album cover art was created by Batzorig Dugarsuren, anUlaanbaatar-based up-and-coming artist. He conveys the idea of reincarnation in aneternal continuum, embedded in the painterly rings of concentric abstraction. Batzorig isrepresented by the Red Gate Gallery, Beijing and his work is held in the permanentcollection of the Mongolian Museum of Modern Art.
