CALL TO WORSHIP
L. Come and gather around the Holy Table
To receive from Jesus the Bread of Life
To drink from Christ the Living Water
Come and pray that we yield not to the temptation
To betray the trust of a suffering God
To gain the world but lose our soul
Come and abide in the love of Jesus Christ
To hear His voice: “Love one another, as I have loved you.”
To love God, to love our neighbor, to love our enemies, and to love ourselves

OPENING SONG
In Remembrance of Me by Cheri Keaggy from
the album My Faith Will Stay
http://www.youtube.com/watchv=WReXhV7MpI0

IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME
This is my body given for you
This is the cup that holds
The blood of the new covenant
This is forgiveness, simple and true
This is the way
That I have made for you

IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME
Before you eat
Before you drink
Take a long look inside
And tell me what you see
He said do this in remembrance of Me
Do this in remembrance of Me

IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME
This is the bread of life broken for you
This is the cup that holds
The wine of the new covenant
This is the love of Christ poured out anew
This is the Son of God who died for you

IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME
Before you eat
Before you drink
Take a long look inside
And tell me what you see
Then do this in remembrance of Me.
Do this in remembrance of Me

IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME
I will remember the cross
That You bore for me
I will remember the crown
That You wore for me
I will remember the reason
You suffered and died

IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME
This is my body given for You
This is the cup that hold
The blood of a new covenant
This is forgiveness, simple and true
This is the way
That I have made for you
I am the Way
This is the way
That I have made for you

D: From the Epistle of … to …
P: Praise to You, O Lord of the Apostles. Lord,
grant us grace to discern Your word.

EPISTLE: 1 CORINTHIANS 11:23‐29
Institution of the Lord’s Supper
23
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to
you:thattheLordJesusonthesamenightinwhichHewas
betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He
broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken
for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same
manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is
the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink
it, in remembrance of Me.”
26 Forasoftenasyoueatthis
bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He
comes.
(…continued ….)

EPISTLE: 1 CORINTHIANS 11:23‐29
Examine Yourself
27
Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the
Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and
blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let
him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats
and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment
to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

D: Hallelujah, Hallelujah. Offer sacrifices of
praise to the Lord. Come and worship in His
holy courts.
P: Hallelujah.
D: Brothers and sisters let us stand in silence,
awe and reverence and listen to the
proclamation of the living Word of God from
the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
P: Amen.

L: Peace be with you all. (+)
P: May the Lord make us all worthy to listen to His word.
L: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ which proclaims
life and salvation to the world as recorded by the Evangelist
Luke.
P: Blessed is He who has come and will come again. Praise
to the Father who sent Him for our salvation. May His
blessings be ever upon us.
L: In the days of Jesus the Christ, our Lord and Savior, the
Word of Life, God incarnate of the blessed Virgin Mary, it
happened in this way.
P: So we believe and affirm.

GOSPEL: LUKE 22:14‐23
Jesus Institutes the Lord’s Supper
14 When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him..
15 Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this
Passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it
until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” 17 Then He took the cup, and gave
thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; 18 for I say to you, I
will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 And
He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My
body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new
covenant in My blood, which is shed for you. 21 But behold, the hand of My
betrayer is with Me on the table. 22 And truly the Son of Man goes as it has
been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!” 23 Then they
began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this
thing.

L: Peace be with you all. (+)
P: And also with you. We thank You Lord that
You have given us Your Gospel which is
indeed the light of the world, to draw us
closer to You. Enable us by Your grace to
praise You through the living words of Your
Gospel which we have now heard.

PROMEON
L: Let us pray to the Lord for His grace and mercy.
P: Lord have mercy upon us and help us.
L: Make us worthy O Lord, to continually offer You praise and
thanksgiving. O Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the
world, who graciously invites us to come prepared for the Last
Supper, who humbly washes the feet of your disciples, and
who forgives us when we betray your unconditional love; to
you belong honor and majesty at this time of prayer and
throughout all eternity.
P: Amen.

SEDRA
• L. O Creator of Heaven and Earth, who made Adam, male and female. In
the Garden of Eden, You mysteriously created us from the dust of the
earth, eternally redeemed us by making us in the image of God, and
sustained us by sacrificing Your breath so that we might breathe through
You. When we rebelled and sinned against You, we became ashamed of
ourselves and tried to hide. Yet, You called us out of the darkness of
hiding and into the light of Your unconditional love. In the vast expanse of
the sky, You painted a rainbow with all the colors of the human race; a
reminder to us that it is not Your desire to see creation perish. In Jesus,
You have granted us pardon from our sins and liberation from bondage. In
Christ, You have prepared the Lamb of God as a Holy Sacrifice. We praise
You for creating the first Adam as a living being and redeeming us through
the second Adam who gives us life through the Holy Spirit. We will offer
praise and thanksgiving to You, to the Father and to the Holy Spirit both
now and forever.
• P. Amen.

INTERCESSORY PRAYER
L: We pray for a spirit of invitation that inspires the church, regardless of
the cost, to create a space where all can be welcome around the TABLE to
REMEMBER our common identity in Jesus Christ.
P: Lord hear our prayer.
L: We pray for a spirit of humility and unconditional love that calls us to
stand up and refute long standing prejudice and discrimination so that we
might WASH THE FEET of those who are outcast and condemned by
mainstream society.
P: Lord hear our prayer.
L: We pray for a spirit of sacrifice that calls to move out of our comfort
zone and pray “THY WILL BE DONE” so that comprehensive programs for
daily care and long‐term solutions for the underprivileged and oppressed
can be realized.
P: Lord hear our prayer.

NICENE CREED
L: We believe in the one true God, the Father Almighty.
P: Maker of Heaven and Earth and of all things visible and
invisible. We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only
begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before the
world. Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten not
made, being of one substance with the Father, by Whom all
things were made; who for us humans and for our salvation
came down from Heaven and was incarnate by the Holy
Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man.
who proceeds from the Father, who with the Father and Son
together is worshipped and glorified, who spoke by the
prophets and apostles.
We believe in one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. We
acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins and look
forward to the resurrection of the dead and the new life of
the world to come. Amen.

Servant or free,
Woman or man, no more.

One cup of blessing which we bless.
And we, though many,
Throughout the earth,
We are one body in this one Lord.

Many the gifts,
Many the works,
One in the Lord of all.

One bread, one body,
One Lord of all,
One cup of blessing which we bless.
And we, though many,
Throughout the earth,
Grain for the fields,
Scattered and grown,
Gathered to one, for all.
