<strong>REFERENCES</strong><br />

<strong>Every</strong> <strong>paper</strong> <strong>must</strong> <strong>include</strong> a <strong>reference</strong> <strong>list</strong>. <strong>The</strong> purpose of the <strong>list</strong> is to allow the<br />

reader to find and check your citations as easily as possible. A <strong>reference</strong> <strong>list</strong> differs<br />

from a bibliography in that it only <strong>include</strong>s works actually cited in the <strong>paper</strong> and<br />

does not <strong>include</strong> other works that might have been consulted. All <strong>reference</strong>s <strong>must</strong><br />

be <strong>list</strong>ed alphabetically by the author’s last name.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re are many different conventions regarding how one should <strong>list</strong> one’s<br />

<strong>reference</strong>s. Use the one presented in chapter 18 of Turabian and summarized here.<br />

Note: In an actual <strong>reference</strong> <strong>list</strong>, the <strong>reference</strong>s are not segregated by type as in<br />

this set of examples.<br />
