MOTORSPORTS AND RV
Being a true motorsports fan means more than donning the flag of your favorite driver
and making it out to a few races each season. There is an experience to be had, a
lifestyle in which to take part. Nothing makes race day more exciting than waking
up 10 minutes from the track, with no traffic or long lines ahead of you. This kind of
convenience is only provided to those who take advantage of the nearby campgrounds,
enjoying the exhilaration of the racing experience from the comforts of their RV.
Each year, a burgeoning new crowd of motorsports fans discovers the perks of
camping in an RV at their favorite event. Who can resist the lure of watching a race in
person, with a television on hand for instant replays and a portable refrigerator stocked
full of cold refreshments
And you don’t have to own your own RV to join in the campground community. There
are plenty of rental companies offering daily and weekly rentals of RVs. Rates vary,
depending upon the size and occupancy of the vehicle, but the average daily rate
is $120-$300, and the average weekly rate is $750-$1400. Some campgrounds
have onsite RVs to rent during the event, saving you the hassle of transporting it to
the grounds.
We’ve all heard stories about the fun and excitement of campgrounds surrounding race
day. But these stories rarely include the important details you’ll need before choosing
your pre-race camping spot. Since all campgrounds are different, you’ll need to do
a little bit of research. Contact campgrounds close to the raceway you’re visiting for
information on vacancy and prices. Spots can fill up quick, so be sure to call a few
weeks before the race. You’ll also want to ask some very important questions:
• Are electrical hookups available If not, are generators allowed or available
for rent
• What are the extra costs for septic pumps and fresh water fill up
• Are there showering facilities nearby
• Are BBQ grills allowed on the campgrounds What types of grills are permitted
(gas, wood, charcoal)
• How much are vehicle parking passes

LIFE COMES AT YOU
®
A HOME TO CALL YOUR OWN
If you’re in the market to buy an RV, RVTraderOnline.com is an intuitive place to start.
Since its inception, RVTraderOnline has been at the forefront of reshaping the RV
industry. Constantly under development, RVTraderOnline has stayed two steps ahead
of the curve and has retained its position as the most-visited RV site on the planet. With
almost 100,000 RVs listed at any one time, when the general public thinks of RV, they
instinctively turn to RVTraderOnline.
With gas prices on the rise, many motorists are returning to diesel-powered vehicles.
Sportscoach diesel motor homes deliver more “wow” for the money than any
comparable brand. In recent years, Sportscoach has become a leading diesel motor
home brand and is the choice of NASCAR drivers Mike Wallace and Ron Hornaday, plus
Jimmie Johnson’s crew chief, Chad Knauss. From first-time diesel buyers to seasoned
RV professionals, Sportscoach stands out from the pack.
And you can heighten the thrill of owning your own RV with a number of accessories
designed to enhance your camping experiences up to and after the race. For example,
Blue Ox products allow race fans to bring it all. Whether camping with a motor home,
travel trailer, or fifth wheel Blue Ox has an option. Their carrier line allows motorcycles,
ATVs, golf carts, mobility carts and bicycles—anything you desire to make your
camping experience more enjoyable—to be transported to the track in style, without
the hassle of towing another trailer. Towing, supplemental braking and steering control
systems, weight distribution hitches, fifth wheel products, carriers and a full line of
accessories are available from Blue Ox.
Another must-have RV accessory is an awning. Located 20 minutes northwest of
Denver, Carefree of Colorado has been producing awnings and awning accessories
for over 30 years and leads the RV industry in innovations to make your race weekend
more Carefree. Easy-to-use electric awnings, manual awnings, Add-A-Rooms for
additional living space, SunBlockers to block the morning sun, Awning Mat ground
cover, Slideout awnings, and interior visors for motor homes are just a few of their
many products.
However, the most vital accessory for enjoying your RV is having insurance. Explorer
Insurance Agency, located in Cleveland, Ohio, is a specialty insurance agency focusing
on the RV lifestyle and specific insurance needs of RVers. With knowledgeable, licensed
insurance professionals that focus only on RV specialty insurance, they are able to
provide unparalleled service and counseling. Explorer represents multiple companies
that can provide an array of options tailor-made to properly insure your passion. And
they only represent companies with an A.M. Best rating of “Excellent” or higher so you
can rest assured that your insurance is through a financially sound company.

And, of course, the most important thing to keep in mind is safety. According to
Foremost Insurance Group, based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, an overloaded rig is a
leading cause of RV accidents. Even a slight overload or unequal weight distribution can
seriously restrict braking and steering, not to mention causing sudden tire blowouts.
Higher fuel consumption is another side effect of an RV that’s too heavy. Whether you’re
headed to the raceway or another exciting destination, properly loading your RV is key
to handling it safely on the road. Foremost offers the following tips:
• Remember to store heavy items low and forward, and lightweight items up higher.
• Try to balance the load between the two sides of the RV.
• Make sure all cargo inside and outside the vehicle is secure and easy to access.
You could win your
SAVING MONEY AND MAKING MONEY WITH CAMPING
Camping near to the raceway has become such and integral part of the motorsports
tailgating tradition that most travel and touring agencies now offer Auto Racing Sports
Packages. Ranging from about $1500-$3500, these packages generally include
rental of an RV and added amenities, accommodating approximately 5-7 people. Most
packages offer three- to five-night stays at a campground proximal to the raceway.
Perks of these packages extend far beyond their significant cost savings. Additional
benefits can include vehicle delivery to and from the raceway, reserved RV parking
and additional vehicle parking, free or discounted generator use, fresh water refills and
vehicle kits and personal kits for all occupants.
For RV owners who prefer the grandstands or maybe even a suite, you can actually
profit from your investment. Many rental companies offer the chance to rent out your
vehicle to responsible customers while it’s not in use. The rental company takes care of
all the necessary paperwork, while allowing you control over the whole process. Most
companies let you screen the applicants and choose who will be the lucky occupant of
your RV. How often you participate in the program is also up to you, whether it’s onetime-only
or for every race.
On race day there is sure to be lots of tailgating, with burgers and hot dogs grilling
around the clock. The atmosphere is friendly and fanworthy, as people from all over the
country gather to celebrate the motorsports tradition and share the fun with their family
and friends. After the race, RVers are always the last to leave as they take their time
packing up their belongings and saying good-bye to new friends.
