All Archaeological Objects:<br />
Remain the custodial responsibility of the of the Crown unless specified otherwise within a final<br />
comprehensive l<strong>and</strong> claim agreement;<br />
Are considered to be on loan to the Principal Investigator until the <strong>research</strong> on the site assemblage<br />
<strong>and</strong> final archaeological <strong>research</strong> report(s) are completed in accordance with the allotted time<br />
period specified on the approved Archaeological Research Permit Application <strong>and</strong> on the<br />
Archaeological Research Permit;<br />
While in the possession of the Principal Investigator, the archaeological objects will be made<br />
available to Parks Canada for <strong>research</strong> <strong>and</strong> display purposes; <strong>and</strong>,<br />
All excavation units, archaeological objects <strong>and</strong> records will be recorded <strong>and</strong> identified using the<br />
Parks Canada archaeological provenience system, <strong>and</strong> according to Parks Canada st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>and</strong><br />
procedures.<br />
Where an Archaeological Resource requires special treatment (e.g., unique, sacred, fragile,<br />
requiring immediate conservation assistance), the Superintendent shall be immediately informed<br />
for direction on how to proceed.<br />
Conditions regarding the management, conservation, <strong>and</strong> the disposition of the <strong>collection</strong>s(s) into<br />
a mutually agreed upon Parks Canada repository may be changed as circumstances warrant by<br />
the applicable Superintendent, on the advice of the appropriate Service Centre Director.<br />
Human Remains:<br />
Where human remains <strong>and</strong>/or funerary objects are accidentally encountered, the activities in<br />
progress at the site must be suspended immediately <strong>and</strong> the Superintendent <strong>not</strong>ified. The<br />
Principal Investigator will await further direction from the Superintendent.<br />
Human remains <strong>and</strong> funerary objects recovered from an archaeological context should be treated<br />
separately from archaeological objects. Human remains can<strong>not</strong> be the subject of property. When<br />
human remains are found on federal Crown l<strong>and</strong> administered by Parks Canada, the Agency has<br />
a custodial responsibility. The human remains are in the care <strong>and</strong> custody of the Crown.<br />
Special Conditions:<br />
The following conditions apply to Research & Collection Permits issued for Quttinirpaaq National<br />
Park <strong>and</strong> are in addition to those outlined above.<br />
_X_ The Permit holder(s) are required to check in at the Tanquary Fiord Warden Station<br />
prior to the commencement of their field activities.<br />
_X_ Radio confirmation of arrival <strong>and</strong> departure from field <strong>research</strong> camp to the Tanquary<br />
Fiord <strong>and</strong> Hazen Camp Warden Stations.<br />
_X_ The Research & Collection Permit will also serve as an Aircraft L<strong>and</strong>ing Permit<br />
authorized by the Superintendent as per Section 15(6) of the National Parks General Regulations<br />
subject to the following provisions:<br />
• List of all aircraft use is provided to the Superintendent <strong>and</strong> Park Manager prior to<br />
commencement of fieldwork. This list must include: date, time, location, <strong>and</strong> type of aircraft for all<br />
l<strong>and</strong>ings <strong>and</strong> take offs
