A study of world history from 4000<br />

BC to 1650 AD as it relates to the<br />

development of western civilization.<br />

History is analyzed in terms of social,<br />

religious, philosophical, political,<br />

and economic concepts rather than<br />

chronological facts. This is a Gordon<br />

Rule writing course and is part of the<br />

college’s Writing-Across-the-Curriculum<br />

program. A minimum grade of “C”<br />

is required if used to meet A.A.<br />

Gordon Rule requirements for general<br />

education. Prerequisite: a passing<br />

score on the standardized placement<br />

test measuring communication/verbal/<br />

reading achievement or successful<br />

completion of ENC 0025 and<br />

REA 0017.<br />

selection of a specific problem. This<br />

is a Gordon Rule writing course<br />

and is part of the college’s Writing-<br />

The History of Christianity from the<br />

Reformation<br />

This course traces the evolution of the<br />

Christian Church from the Protestant<br />

Reformation. Special emphasis shall be<br />

given to: the reformation of theological<br />

dogma and doctrine as well as the<br />

establishment of hierarchical systems<br />

in the numerous Protestant sects; the<br />

major theologians and leaders of the<br />

Protestant movement; the relationship<br />

of the European monarchies and the<br />

sectarian wars; and, special emphasis<br />

on the Protestant movement in the<br />

New World, and in the United <strong>State</strong>s<br />

of America. Prerequisite: WOH 1012.<br />

WOH 2232<br />

The History of Christianity to the<br />

Reformation,<br />

This course traces the evolution<br />

of the Christian Church from its<br />

founding to the onset of the Protestant<br />

Reformation. Special emphasis shall be<br />

given to: the formation of theological<br />

dogma and doctrine as well as the<br />

establishment of the hierarchical<br />

system prior to the fall of the Roman<br />

Empire; the Fathers of the Church;<br />

medieval power and the relationship<br />

of the Church with the European<br />

monarchies; and, crises within the<br />

Church which culminated in the<br />

Reformation.<br />

An introduction to the major concepts<br />

of animal life, to include the structure,<br />

taxonomy, evolutionary relationships,<br />

and natural history of the major animal<br />

groups. Prerequisite: BSC 1005<br />

(or equivalent) or permission of<br />

the instructor.<br />

This college credit course qualifies as having<br />
