WHAT IS THE PARISH
ACTION PLAN
The bishops of the United States define a Christian
steward as one who:
Receives God’s gifts gratefully
Cultivates those gifts responsibly
Shares those gifts in justice and love, and
Returns those gifts to the Lord with increase.
This week you will receive a Parish Action Plan that will
help you understand how stewardship affects our parish
and archdiocese. The objectives of the Parish Action
Plan are:
To tell you what resources—both human and financial—are
necessary to provide all the current
ministries, programs, and services in the parish.
To tell you about the possibility and need for additional
ministries and services in the parish.
To help you see the connection between the sharing of
your time, talent, and treasure and the parish’s ability
to provide current and future ministries and services.
We hope that the plan will help you see the breadth and
depth of ministry that takes place here at St. Catherine
of Alexandria. We have many exciting things happening
here.
Please carefully read the Parish Action Plan. Meditate
on the meaning of stewardship. Most of all, let us pray
together,

We extend our hands and hearts to you in Christian hospitality, and thank God that
you are with us, whether you are long-time, or newly arrived parishioners. If you have not
registered, please pick-up a Registration Form (at the back of the church), fill it out and either
place it in the collection basket or mail it to the parish office.
PARISH MEMBERSHIP: Registration and regular use of envelopes are essential to the proper administration
of a Parish and are necessary in order to become a properly identified member of a Parish Family.
ANOINTING OF THE SICK
If you have a serious illness, are facing hospitalization and/or surgery,
you should arrange to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.
You may remember “Last Rites” but the correct name is Anointing of the
Sick, which is not limited to the dying and which should be celebrated
before the sick person is unconscious, comatose or in the last stages of
death. The Anointing is offered each weekday morning upon request,
during the 7:25 AM Mass. If you or family members are unable to attend
Mass, Fr. John will come to the home on THURSDAYS, 9:00 a.m.
Arrangements must be made by the prior Monday afternoon to allow
time for proper preparation.
“The Sacrament of Penance”, can be celebrated during our monthly Reconciliation Prayer Service
which is at 7:00 pm on the first Wednesday of each month.
It is imperative to be present for the entire service for the participation in the service is the penance.

This Sacrament is also offered by appointment only: (676-4403)
Sacrificial Giving!
A normal Sacrificial Giving program is a 10%
contribution to a charitable organization or church.
St. Catherine’s program asks for 4% of your income,
2% for our general parish support and 1% for
maintenance and repairs, both through the use of our
weekly Offertory envelopes. Another 1% goes to our
ongoing faith formation programs through the
Diocesan Development Fund Drive (envelopes and
statements sent by the Diocese). For example, if you
make $500.00 a week, your total contribution at 4 %
would be $20.00 a week.
Another way to give back to God a part of the blessings He has
given to each of us is to mention St. Catherine’s in your will.
Please give prayerful thought to supporting St. Catherine’s
in this way.

MARRIAGE PREPARATION
PROCESS
Canon Law stipulates that weddings are to take
place in the Parish where either the bride, the
groom, or their parents reside. In order to begin
the Marriage Preparation Process, you must pick
up A Guideline and Policy Booklet for
Weddings from our Parish Office and read it
thoroughly. Please understand that the marriage
preparation in the Diocese of San Bernardino
takes a minimum of 6 months and that a
wedding date may not be set until
specified criteria are met.

K-5 FUN AND FAITH
“Summer Time Fun & Faith” with the children is held
during the 8:00, 10:00, and Noon Masses every Sunday
during July and August. The children are having a
lot of fun, singing, dancing and playing.
All children are welcome to join us. We escort the children
back into the church for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Next weekend, we are invited to join in the world wide mission of Jesus through our prayer and
support of the Propagation of the Faith.
What better way to celebrate 2009 than to help bring the life-giving message and the love of Christ to
millions of the poorest people in the world today We can do this—all of us—by praying daily for the
missionary work of the Church, offering our personal crosses for missionaries and those they serve,
and making a financial gift.
Next weekend our parish welcomes Deacon Richard Cover, to speak at all our Masses on our
baptismal call to be “missionaries.”

Small Faith Communities
Ministry
The “Small Faith Communities” Ministry invites all parishioners to
participate in a faith sharing process and to join their meetings on
the week of the Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time starting
August 17 through August 23, 2009. The goal of this process is to
assist us to deepen our relationship with Christ and have a living,
vibrant relationship with him by reflecting, sharing on and
responding to the Sunday readings. The Scripture message for
this week is: “To whom shall we go You have the words of eternal
life.” As people of faith, we make that decision to follow Jesus, but
day in and day out we still are faced with indecision of following
through. Jesus often asks us to take the more difficult decision.
Sometimes, the signs are not clear and the way is cloudy.
We need to allow time for prayer and to look for Jesus
out ahead of us to go the right way.
There are 17 Small Faith Groups meeting on different days of the
week and on different times of the day. You may choose the
group that best suits your schedule.

HELP OUR
TROOPS CALL
HOME
The Knights of Columbus are once again
collecting donations to purchase pre-paid
telephone calling cards to send to our
military men and women stationed in the
Mid-East and to the wounded recovering
in military hospitals. Last year, because
of the help of St Catherine's parishioners
along with parishioners of Parishes in the
Temecula Valley areas, the Knights were
able to send 800 cards to the troops over
the Christmas Holidays. This year we
hope to send 1,000 prepaid cards to our
troops. The Knights purchase special
military telephone cards that allow a 30-
minute telephone call to their loved ones
back home from the Mid East and longer
calls from military hospitals. The
Knights are charged $10.00 for each card.
The Knights are requesting St Catherine's
parishioners to once again help the
Knights purchase telephone cards this
year.
One hundred percent of your donations
will be used to purchase the prepaid
telephone cards to our Troops. The
Knights provide all administrative and
mailing cost to send these cards to the
Troops. To contribute to this Calling
Card Fund, mail your contribution to

Twentieth Sunday in
Ordinary Time
MAKING THE MOST OF THE
OPPORTUNITY
The Letter to the Ephesians speaks to us, urging
wisdom in our discernment of how to live the Christian
life. We are to “watch carefully . . . making the most of
opportunity,” and “try to understand what is the will of
the Lord” (5:15).
We are promised a generous outpouring of God’s
help in our attempts to live the gospel: the Eucharist. This
is the “living bread,” the Body and Blood of the Lord. To
those who can only think literally, this seems not only
foolish, but repulsive as well. We need to have more wisdom,
understanding, and faith to understand properly
what we have been asked to believe.
For our bread, which is food, and our wine,
which is drink, to be transformed from things that give
life to the body into Christ, who gives life to the soul,
another great transformation must take place. Not only
are the physical elements transformed, we are transformed
as well. If we become people of Wisdom, eating
of this banquet, we become one with Christ, who is one
with God. We become the Body of Christ, his living and
real presence.
FOR THE LIFE OF THE WORLD
This wisdom for us is foolishness to the world.
But there is a saying, “The proof of the pudding is in the
eating.” When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we
become what we eat; that is, we become one with the
Lord and with each other. The proof of this is in our love.
If we love God, if we love each other, and if we love others
and serve them in charity, our love will be living
proof of God’s life and work in the world. We truly become
the Body of Christ.

Esta semana recibirán un Plan de Acción
Parroquial que les ayudará a entender el impacto
que tiene la corresponsabilidad en
nuestra parroquia y nuestra arquidiócesis. Los
objetivos del Plan de Acción Parroquial son:
Decirle qué recursos, tanto humanos como financieros
se necesitan para ofrecer todos
los ministerios, programas y servicios actuales
en la parroquia.
Informarle sobre la posibilidad y la necesidad
de ofrecer ministerios, programas y servicios
adicionales en la parroquia.
Ayudarle a ver la conexión entre el compartir su
tiempo, talento y tesoro y la capacidad de la
parroquia para proporcionar ministerios y
servicios, actuales y futuros.
Esperamos que el plan lo ayude a ver la amplitud
y profundidad del ministerio que se lleva a
cabo en St. Catherine of Alexandria. Hay muchas
cosas emocionantes que ocurren aquí.

Que es Alanon, es un grupo de apoyo para personas
que luchan con la enfermedad de un ser querido como
(alcoholismo o otras substancias). Esta parroquia

PROCESO PARA PREPARACIÓN
MATRIMONIAL
La Ley Canónica, requiere que la boda se celebre en la
Parroquia donde reside la novia o el novio, o sus padres.
Solamente la pareja puede hacer los arreglos necesarios,
no la familia. La Diócesis de San Bernardino requiere
un mínimo de seis meses de preparación para el
proceso de los documentos. La fecha de la boda sera
fijada al cumplir los requisitos. Para mas información
puede recoger un manual que contiene las guía y la
póliza de las bodas.
BAUTIZOS
Para bautizar a su nino/a, es necesario vivir en los limites
de la Parroquia de Santa Catalina, y ser miembro de
la iglesia. Es necesario que hable con varios meses de
anticipación porque el cupo es limitado.

UNCION PARA LOS ENFERMOS
Si tiene una enfermedad seria, va ser hospitalizado/a
o se va someterse a una sirugia, usted debe de recibir
el Sacramento de la uncion de los enfermos, se ofrece
todos los dias de la semana en la misa de las 7:25 am.
Llame para hacer una cita. Si por alguna razon no
puede venir a la Iglesia, a recibir la uncion podemos ir
a su casa. Y tambien le podemos llevar la comunion.
