PREAMBLE<br />

Sajnam Dam is situated about 30 Km. away from Lalitpur District head<br />

quarter on Lalitpur Mehrauni road, 7 Km. right side from Sajnam tiraha near<br />

kalothra village.<br />

Earth work for streng<strong>the</strong>ning <strong>of</strong> Sajnam Dam left and right flank<br />

renovation <strong>of</strong> cross drain and construction <strong>of</strong> rain chutes on up slope <strong>of</strong> right<br />

and left flank <strong>of</strong> Dam.<br />

All <strong>the</strong> works shall be executed on Sajnam Dam site. Execution <strong>of</strong> all <strong>the</strong><br />

work shall be completed as per approved design and drawing by competent<br />

authority . Drawing is atteched with tender document.<br />

( A ) TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION<br />

1- RENOVATION OF CROSS DRAIN :-<br />

1.1- Cross drain which is identified by <strong>the</strong> Engineer-In-Charge or specified<br />

in schedule "A" <strong>of</strong> tender, shall be dismentled carefully so as not to<br />

damage <strong>the</strong> materials taken out, or any part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> work which is not to<br />

dismentled.<br />

1.2- All serviceable materials shall be set aside and stacked in such place<br />

and manner as may be ordered by <strong>the</strong> Engineer-In-Charge and shall be<br />

property <strong>of</strong> Government. And should be measured by J.E. and<br />

recorded in M.B.<br />

Unserviceable materials shall be removed from <strong>the</strong> site or<br />

disposed <strong>of</strong> as ordered by <strong>the</strong> Engineer-In-charge at <strong>the</strong> contractor<br />

expense.<br />

The contractor shall, if required by <strong>the</strong> Engineer-In-charge,<br />

have to erect and remove screans <strong>of</strong> canvas or o<strong>the</strong>r suitable material<br />

to minimise <strong>the</strong> nuisance from dust and to provide for watering as <strong>the</strong><br />

work <strong>of</strong> dismentling proceeds.<br />

1.3- Any materials damaged during dismentling by neglect, carelessness or<br />

want <strong>of</strong> skill <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> contractor shall be charged against him.<br />

1.4- The contractor shall provide and maintain all <strong>the</strong> scaffolding and<br />

fencing that may be necessary for <strong>the</strong> proper and safe execution <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

work and shall make adequate arrangement to prevent accidents<br />

Excavation <strong>of</strong> X-drain for renovation shall be as per dismention<br />

givenin drawing + 5mm variation is to be allowed.<br />

Disposel <strong>of</strong> Excavated earth work shall be as per direction <strong>of</strong><br />

Engineer-In-charge before laying <strong>of</strong> filter X-section <strong>of</strong> drain shall be<br />

checked by Engineer-in-charge or his representative available at site.<br />

If however, <strong>the</strong> contractor without <strong>the</strong> sanction <strong>of</strong> Engineer-In-Charge<br />

takes drain level down to greater depth or side cutting <strong>the</strong>n allowed in<br />

<strong>the</strong> plane, <strong>the</strong> contractor shall be liable to be colled on to fill up <strong>the</strong><br />

depth with sand at his own expense.<br />

1.5- FILTER MATERIAL:-<br />

1.51- SAND- Fine aggregate shall be obtained ei<strong>the</strong>r by screaning<br />

excavated material or from any o<strong>the</strong>r natural source or shall be<br />

crushed from boulders. The course sand shall be obtained from<br />

approved quarry.<br />

1.52- The sand shall be dry and free from any foreign matler & harmfull<br />

impurities.<br />

1.53- The fine aggregate shall confirm to specification No. 8 <strong>of</strong> I.D.<br />

specification and as per I.S.I. 383-1970 and shall have fineness<br />

modules <strong>of</strong> 2.3 to 2.6.<br />

1.54- No mixing <strong>of</strong> sand <strong>of</strong> different fineness modules shall be allowed to<br />

achieve <strong>of</strong> above fineness.<br />

1.55- Silt content shall be measured by sedimentation test shall not exceed<br />

5% by weight. Any sample <strong>of</strong> sand <strong>of</strong> sand containing higher<br />

percentage <strong>of</strong> silt shall be washed by contractor at his own cost.<br />

1.56- Sand collected at site shall be used after approved by Engineer-Incharge.<br />

1.6- COARSE AGGREGATE :-<br />

1.61- Stone grit :- Coarse aggregate shall consist <strong>of</strong> stone grit/ballast which<br />

should be free from organic materials and clay and should be<br />

approved by Engineer-In-charge.<br />

1.62- Size <strong>of</strong> coarse aggrigate shall conform ISI 383-1970 for graded<br />

aggrigate <strong>of</strong> 40MM & 20MM.<br />

1.63- Any rejected material shall have to be rmoved from <strong>the</strong> site within 48<br />

hours <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> written order <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Engineer-In-Charge o<strong>the</strong>rwise <strong>the</strong><br />

same shall be removed by any o<strong>the</strong>r agency and cost so involved shall<br />

be recovered from <strong>the</strong> contractor.<br />

1.64- Coarse aggregate shall be stored in separate stock piles shall be so<br />

located as to avide any undesirable material mixed up with aggregate.<br />

1.65- The required quantity <strong>of</strong> material shall be collected at site and<br />

approved by Engineer-In-Charge before use.<br />

1.70- Laying <strong>of</strong> filter material shall be start after approved trenches sub<br />

surface. Approved sand shall be laid in required thickness as per<br />

drawing. After laying <strong>of</strong> sand, approvel stone grit size 10 to 20mm<br />

graded shall be laid after this 20 to 40mm approved stone grit/ballast<br />

shall be laid.<br />

1.80- After completion <strong>of</strong> laying <strong>of</strong> filter, stone pitching shall be laid as per<br />

I.D. specification No. 49.<br />
