TYPES OF CRIMES MISDEMEANOR - LESS SERIOUS, USUALLY PUNISHED BY A FINE OR LESS THAN A YEAR IN JAIL. EXAMPLE: SHOPLIFTING. FELONY - SERIOUS, PUNISHABLE BY MORE THAN A YEAR IN JAIL OR EVEN DEATH.
