Kits
In addition to daily use absorbents, there is often a requirement in the workplace for a larger volume of absorbent material to be held in one
location for use in an emergency - a spill response kit. This may be small, capable of absorbing up to seven litres - or large, with an absorption
capacity of 1000ltr or more. Whatever the size, the same basic requirements will apply. The container that the absorbents are packed in needs
to be durable - and readily visible. The absorbents need to be capable of coping with any liquid that might be spilt in the area the kit's intended
for - not just the predominant fluid. Suitable personal protection equipment will need to be included - as well a generous supply of easily
identifiable disposal bags to put used absorbents in. Three types of spill response kits are available in several capacities depending on your
requirements - ‘Maintenance', ‘Oil-only' and ‘Chemical'.
