1950s Sue (Patterson) Pine ’57 and her husband, Robert, of Hot Springs, Ark., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 15, 2009, with a reception hosted by family and friends. She is retired from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she served as director of admissions. Robert W. Bohl ’58 was named the chair of Board of Trustees at Princeton Theological Seminary in July. Bohl is a 1961 graduate of the Seminary. He will serve as chair of the board for four years. 1960s Joe Baker ’69 was recently named the local secretary (executive officer) of Mensa of Memphis, Tenn., which has approximately 300 members in the region. He has been a member of Mensa for 15 years. Joe is also a member of the University’s Alumni Association Board of Directors. Alumni and their friends from the early 2000s recently had an informal gathering at the Dallas home of alumni Paul and Jennifer Heimke. Dr. Ralph Clingan ’63 and his wife, Margaret, of Bloomfield, N.J., visited campus in July. Rev. Clingan is a retired homiletics and liturgics professor for the Interdenominational Theological Center in Georgia, and has written several books. 1980s Jiwa “Ji” Mohd Isa ’81 is living in Shah Alam, Malaysia, where he is the director of business development for Securities Industry Development Corporation. He earned his Ph.D. from the Manchester Business School in 1994 and a master’s in management in 1986. Fred Romo ’68 was recently named interim director of the Ozark (Ark.) Chamber of Commerce. Fred retired from Whirlpool Corp., as global manufacturing manager in 2000 after 30 years withthe company. 1990s Lance Spence ’91 was named the new athletic director at Lamar (Ark.) High School in August. Claudia Cruz ’95 is living in Colon, El Salvador, where she is corporate communications manager for Cenergica-Nejapa. She earned a master’s degree in auditing and accounting from the University of Barcelona in 2008. She was recently appointed to the board of directors of Glasswing, an international non-profit organization that advises the private sector on social investment. Heidi Bidstrup ’95 earned a master’s degree in kinesiology from Texas Women’s University in May of 2009. Geoff Levine ’97 and his wife, Dara, of Knightdale, N.C., welcomed new twin girls, Avery Caroline and Alexa Lee, to the family on Oct. 15, 2009. 2000s Davis Trousdale ’00 and his wife, Kristen, of Brandon, Miss., welcomed a baby girl, Jillian, to the family on Aug. 27, 2009. Valerie McClaine ’02 married Chris Kichler on July 25, 2009, in Clarksville. The couple lives in Jacksonville, Ark., where Valerie works as a first grade teacher. Jennifer (Byford) Fields ’03 and husband, Chris, are living in Rogers, Ark., with son Braxton. She works with JB Hunt. Jeremy and Alicia (Pruett) Proctor ’03 of Clarksville welcomed a new baby girl, Hannah Elizabeth, to the family on June 24, 2009. Sam Fincher ’04 was recently hired as a mathematics instructor at the University of Arkansas. He earned his master’s degree in mathematics at UA. Christa Lanphear ’04 married Gerald Williams on Oct. 10, 2009, in Stay In Touch!
Hartman, Ark. They plan to live in Baton Rouge, La. Matt Little ’05 and Judith (Stacks) Little ’07 are living in Clarksville with their son, Clayton James. Matt recently completed a master’s degree in educational leadership from Harding University. He is a math teacher and softball coach at Lamar (Ark.) High School Chris Schultz ’05 and Courtney (Frost) Schultz ’06 recently moved to Dallas, Texas. The couple had a baby boy, Ethan John, on Dec. 29, 2008. Chris is working with Centre for Neuro Skills and Courtney is a stay-at-home mom. Mark Smith ’05 and his wife, Grace, recently moved to Conway, Ark., where he has taken a job with Hewlett Packard in sales development. Kari (Pridgin) Tedford ’05 and husband, Cory, welcomed a new baby boy, Jackson Blake, to the family on Oct. 7, 2009. Jackson joins sisters Zoey and Kennedy. The Tedfords live in Coal Hill, Ark. Devon Bottoms ’06 and Tyler Clark ’09 were married on Aug. 22, Will Merriott ’01 and Jennifer Shaw ’04 celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary on Oct. 9 and son, Liam, turned one on Oct. 3. The family lives in Sherwood, Ark., where Will works as a graphic artist at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and Jenny is a medical technologist at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The family photo was taken by alumus Brian Cormack ’01 (Cormackphotos.com) . Hal Stillings ’63 and his wife, Mary Ann (Chadler) Stillings ’65, of Tybee Island, Ga., visited campus in October. The Stillings are both retired, Hal from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Mary Ann from a career in teaching. 2009, in Fort Smith, Ark. The Clarks live in Fort Smith, where he is employed by Rayco Tools, and she is a physical therapist. Mario “The Love Bandit” Hernandez ’06 is in Chihuahua, Mexico, where he is a program manager for Foxconn. Luc Godin ’06 was named the new head men’s tennis coach at Drury University in Springfield, Mo., in July. He had served as an assistant coach at Northwestern State in Louisiana for the past two years. Godin served as head tennis coach at Ozarks from 2004-2006. Brandon Schluterman ’06 and his wife, Brittney, welcomed a baby boy, Karsten Paul, to the family on Sept. 4, 2009. Brandon is the head girls senior high and junior high basketball coach at Lamar, Ark. Mandi Carter ’07 and Todd Koch ’09 were married on Aug. 10, 2009, in San Antonio, Texas. Tabitha Reed ’07 married A.J. Leeds in Texarkana, Ark., on Sept. 19, 2009. The Leeds live in Denver, where she is an assistant director for Central Visitation Program, which provides Alumni Association set to recognize nine The University’s Alumni Association will honor nine of its own during the 2010 Alumni Weekend Awards Banquet, scheduled for Friday, April 16. The Alumni Merit Award will be presented to Arvid Bean ’78 of Fort Smith, Ark., and Farren Sadler ’51 of Abilene, Texas. The Alumni Achievement Award will be given to Larry Kruse of Brevard, N.C., and Ronnie Cookson ’66 of Morley, Mo. The Young Alumni Service Award will be presented to Jennifer (Lockhart) Batie ’98 of Bentonville, Ark. Four Ozarks’ graduates will be honored with the Alumni Legacy Award, which recognizes a lifetime of unselfish giving of their resources to support Ozarks. The 2010 Legacy Award winners are Jack Patterson ’65 of Clarksville; Robert Bohl ’58 of Naples, Fla.; and Bill ’52 and Jane (Wilson) Holder ’55 of Fort Smith, Ark.
