Kay (Rodgers) Anderson ’41 of Harker Heights, Texas, died
March 1, 2009, at the age of 89.
Polly (Taylor) Kennon ’46
Polly (Taylor) Kennon ’46 of Clarksville, died Oct. 9, 2009,
at the age of 93. “Miss Polly” was a retired school teacher, a
lifetime member of Arkansas Retired Teachers Association,
and a long-time member of the Ozarks Alumni Association.

Dulcie (Green) Cecil ’48 of Mena, Ark., died on Oct. 9, 2009,
at the age of 92. She was a retired school teacher.

The Rev. John Marshall Coppic ’49 of Waynesboro, Va., died
Sept. 6, 2009, at the age of 80. He was an ordained Presbyterian
minister for more than 40 years, serving congregations in
Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Missouri.

E.E. Hudson ’49 of Russellville, Ark., died Sept. 4, 2009, at
the age of 82. He was a former school teacher and long-time
professor and department chair at Arkansas Tech University.

Wilma (Owens) Wendland ’54 of Pueblo, Col., died July 4,
2009, at the age of 77. She was a retired school teacher and
child welfare worker.
Laura Sue (Hill) Ehren ’56
Laura Sue (Hill) Ehren ’56 of Paris, Ark., died Aug. 7, 2009,
at the age of 75. She was involved in ministry work for more
than 45 years and was preceded in death by her husband of 53
years, Robert C. Ehren ’55.

Jim Sweeden ’57 of Tomball, Texas, died May 17, 2009, at
the age of 76. He was a former color guard in the U.S. Navy.

David Lee Vardaman ’57 of Quincy, Ill., died Aug. 31, 2009,
at the age of 75. He was a retired teacher, coach and also
worked in the transportation industry.

and a recipient of the Purple Heart Award.

Wayne Allen May ’66 of Van Buren, Ark., died Sept. 8, 2009,
at the age of 68. He was a retired teacher and coach.
Rudolph Justice, Jr. ’71
Rudolph A. Justice, Jr., ’71 of Kalamazoo, Mich., died May
30, 2009, at the age of 64. He was retired from the U.S. Navy
and from the Department of Veteran Affairs.
Gary Lynn Harrington ’72
Gary Lynn Harrington ’72 of Oklahoma City, died Sept. 8,
2009, at the age of 60. He served for 27 years as the head
archivist for the state of Oklahoma and was a professor at
Oklahoma State University. He is survived by his wife of 39
years, Netta (Trowbridge) Harrington ’71.

Fred G. Jones ’73 of Fort Smith, Ark., died Aug. 20, 2009, at
the age of 71. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a national service
officer for the Disabled American Veterans organization.

Marcia Lee Owen ’76 of Van Buren, Ark., died Sept. 14,
2009, at the age of 78. She was a retired Alma (Ark.) school
teacher and a lifelong resident of Crawford County.
Romesh Algama ’91
Romesh Algama ’91 of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on
Sept. 5, 2009, at the age of 41. He was a restaurant manager.
John E. Tate, Jr.
John E. Tate, Jr., of Bella Vista, Ark., died Oct. 6, 2009, at the
age of 89. He was a retired attorney and a former member of
the University’s Board of Trustees.
