In the end it was the Chaplin’s again who dominated race 10, however this time it was young
Jack who won the event. He finished well above the majority of the competition. Jack commented,
’at the end of the race I still had lots of energy.’ Perhaps this is a warning sign to the
rest of the field for the future! Interestingly Jack was assisted by Linda Chaplin who rode as a
domestique for Jack to show him the way. Could this be the future of Mud, Sweat and Gears
Will more team players come into the race Well done Linda on a great team ride! Bailey Wells
finished in second place and Sigrid Lundborg came in third place. Sigrid’s performance is the
highest finish ever recorded by a female in Mud, Sweat and Gears history. Well done Sigrid!
The club is now in heavy training for the Tour Down Under community ride. Riders are looking to
challenge themselves and enjoy a long ride with close friends. You can choose from several
different distances. There is a 127km ride, a 92km ride, a 46.5km ride and a 20km ride. So
there’s something for everyone who enjoys riding. If you like cycling, then join Mud, Sweat and
Gears and thousands of others on a day that you will never forget!
I pray to God that everyone will enjoy the ride this year and that riders will keep safe in both their
training adventures and travels. I hope you also enjoy a big week of racing in Adelaide! The real
super heroes will be in town, although God thinks you’re a super hero too!
If you are interested in riding with us, please check out the BHBC website and follow the Mud,
Sweat and Gears link. We would love to have you on our Saturday morning rides. There is a
7:30am ride to Mount Lofty suited for advanced and experienced riders and there is a 9:00am
ride within the Belair National Park that allows all members to participate and enjoy. Once a
month we ride to McLaren Vale, everyone is welcome. Mud, Sweat and Gears hopes to catch
