The Sea Ray story began more than 50 years ago, in 1959, 

when founder C.N. Ray inspired a great tradition of 

building superior-quality boats. From the start, Sea Ray 

was focused on the meticulous craft of making the best

his company was going, and it wasn’t going to get there

BY DESIGN 

Sea Ray has invested more capital into computer-aided 

design (CAD) and construction technology in the last 15 

years than any other boat builder, and we have one of the 

largest patent portfolios in the global marine community. 

All Sea Ray boats exceed the regulations of the U.S. Coast 

Guard and the standards and recommended practices of 

the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) 

and American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC). In 

addition, all models are certified to carry the CE Mark for 

distribution in the European Union.

We create virtual prototypes 

using sophisticated CAD 

software, then build full-size 

mockups to analyze from 

every angle, resulting in a 

superior ergonomic design. 

Every Yacht prototype is 

subjected to a minimum 

six-week test in the Atlantic 

Ocean, where it is validated for

Stringers are resin-coated, 

bedded with structural bonding 

compound, then fiberglassed 

in to create a stringer/hull 

bond of exceptional strength 

and durability. 

The electrical harnesses on 

our Yachts are wire-tied 

every 14 inches rather than 

the 18 inches required by the 

ABYC. This means more 

secure and consistent wire 

runs.

520SEDAN BRIDGE 

Our well-executed and hospitable 520 Sedan Bridge protects guests from the elements with a standard fiberglass hardtop 

and available cockpit sunshade. An extra-wide beam allows maximum utilization of the cockpit area, which can be 

customized to include a “summer kitchen” with transom fishbox and built-in wet bar featuring a refrigerator, electric 

grill and cabinet storage.


Aboard our 520 Sedan Bridge, truly superior sea-keeping is 

the result of a thoroughly ocean-tested hull and powerful, 

reliable diesel inboards that also boast great fuel economy. 

Along with digital throttle and shift, the helm incorporates 

SmartCraft ® diagnostics, a suite of Raymarine ® electronics with 

dual widescreen displays and a new pedestal helm chair. Plush 

passenger seating forward and aft keeps the captain at center 

stage and features new color options.

The 540 Sundancer makes wide-open spaces even more attractive 

by adding stylish, multifunctional features. An L-shaped lounge 

in the cockpit has a “sun gate” backrest that opens to extend the

Cummins MerCruiser Diesel (CMD) combines world-class research and engineering 

expertise, an exceptional range of products and an ever-growing global service network. 

Its six-cylinder Quantum series delivers quiet, fuel-efficient power along with unmatched 

durability for a long life. 

MAN ® diesel engines power vessels into the planing phase quickly, where they run with 

distinct smoothness for a relaxed and comfortable yet thrilling ride. Common-rail fuelinjection 

systems run quieter, with less fuel consumption, while a compact design allows for 

lower weight and higher output. 

CMD engines link to SmartCraft ® diagnostic 

instruments for vital engine information in real time. 

MAN’s monitoring and diagnostic system similarly 

records engine data and, if it detects a critical status, 

sounds an alarm in the engine room and at the helm.

Get a Handle on Maneuverability 

Sea Ray offers joystick propulsion systems on almost all of our Yacht models, providing owners 

with more carefree boating than ever before. Each technology has been thoroughly tested and 

sea-trialed, ensuring control with confidence. 

With Zeus, multidirectional thrust is provided by twin Cummins MerCruiser Diesel 

(CMD) inboards and independent, rear-facing pod drives. The joystick controlling the 

system is touch-sensitive for intuitive docking, and the drives convert considerable 

performance for faster speeds and improved fuel efficiency. Rear-facing pod 

drives offer distinct advantages over forward-facing ones because they are 

protected by the gear case and skeg, thereby enhancing safety. 

The Joystick Maneuvering System (JMS) from ZF Marine is a 

proportional control system for vessels equipped with traditional 

inboard engines. Using a computer that interfaces with the 

transmissions, rudders and thrusters, JMS provides the same ease 

of control as pod drives, making maneuvers like sideways tracking 

and 360-degree rotations effortless. 

Both Zeus and JMS are available with “electronic anchors” that can maintain a 

vessel at a fixed position at the push of a button, even in the presence of strong 

wind and current. These functions — called Skyhook® (standard) and Hold 

Position (optional), respectively — are ideal for use while waiting at a closed 

bridge or busy fuel dock. *Never allow swimmers in the water around the 

vessel while Skyhook or Hold Position is engaged.
