Program length/frequency . The amount <strong>of</strong> time libraries devote to preschool<br />

programming is fairly consistent across all libraries. Most libraries provide preschoolers<br />

with 30 to 60 minutes <strong>of</strong> programming a week (see Figure 13). Only 5% averaged less<br />

than 30 minutes and 4% <strong>of</strong>fered more than one hour.<br />

The number <strong>of</strong> story hours was also consistent throughout the state. Most libraries<br />

surveyed (74%) <strong>of</strong>fer fewer than five story hours a week (see Figure 14). Another 14%<br />

reported holding six to 10 story hours a week for preschoolers. Only 3% <strong>of</strong> libraries<br />

surveyed said they hold more than 10 story hours each week.<br />
