Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>Theatre</strong> Operations<br />

The <strong>Abbey</strong> <strong>Theatre</strong> is Ireland’s national theatre and occupies a unique position in the<br />

hearts and minds <strong>of</strong> Irish people. It comprises <strong>of</strong> two theatres: the <strong>Abbey</strong>, with a<br />

seating capacity <strong>of</strong> 492 seats, and the Peacock, with a seating capacity <strong>of</strong> 128 seats.<br />

The <strong>Abbey</strong> <strong>Theatre</strong> is committed to producing a year round programme <strong>of</strong> work both<br />

on and <strong>of</strong>f stage, with the priority to create work <strong>of</strong> excellence, which not only<br />

showcases Irish and international drama but also engages with the artistic and civic<br />

life <strong>of</strong> contemporary Ireland.<br />

Purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>Job</strong>:<br />

To ensure that the highest standards <strong>of</strong> cleanliness are maintained and liaise with the<br />

contact cleaners and other service providers to ensure they are fulfilling their roles<br />

while also being cost effective. Play a key role in waste management and ensuring the<br />

Health and Safety <strong>of</strong> staff, patrons and the building.<br />

Duties and Responsibilities for:<br />

Duties <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Front</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>House</strong> <strong>Cleaner</strong> include but are not limited to:<br />

1. Turning <strong>of</strong>f alarms and removing all chains.<br />

2. Providing access to the contract cleaners and liaising with them throughout<br />

the morning to ensure standards are adhered to.<br />

3. Operating the phones at Stage door, staff access and visitor control.<br />

4. Meet and greet guests in a friendly, welcoming manner and promote the<br />

<strong>Abbey</strong> <strong>Theatre</strong> and its programme <strong>of</strong> work in an accurate, informed manner.<br />

5. Enforce fire and safety regulations and actively participate in emergency<br />

evacuation <strong>of</strong> the building.<br />

6. General cleaning <strong>of</strong> building inside and outside.<br />

7. Removal <strong>of</strong> rubbish and ensuring the waste management policy <strong>of</strong> the building<br />

is adhered to.<br />

8. Ensuring all access routes are clear and removal or reporting <strong>of</strong> hazards.<br />

9. Ordering and monitoring <strong>of</strong> cleaning stock in line with budgets and targets.<br />

10. Accepting deliveries as required.<br />

11. Assist with any other duties as may be deemed applicable to the efficient<br />

running <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Abbey</strong> <strong>Theatre</strong>.

The post holder will have:<br />

Excellent time keeping skills.<br />

Excellent attention to detail.<br />

Hardworking and ability to meet deadlines.<br />

Working hours<br />

Monday to Wednesday, 7am to 1pm<br />

Will be required to cover annual leave<br />
