This award winning tour-de-force written andperformed by Pat Kinevane will run from 30 May – 16 June.<strong>Silent</strong> is the touching and challenging story of homeless Tino McGoldrig. He has lost it all– including his mind. He now dives into the wonderful wounds of this past through theromantic world of Rudolph Valentino. The <strong>Abbey</strong> <strong>Theatre</strong> is committed to showcasing the best of independent theatre talent on itsstages. Earlier this year, the <strong>Abbey</strong> presented I ♥ ALICE ♥ I, written and directed by AmyConroy of the <strong>Abbey</strong> <strong>Theatre</strong>’s New Playwrights Programme. The play then travelled to NewYork’s Irish Arts Center and received rave reviews. Last year, six visiting theatre companiespresented work at the <strong>Abbey</strong> including <strong>Theatre</strong> Lovett, The Ark, Fíbín Teo, National Youth<strong>Theatre</strong>, Silken Thomas Players and The Company.Pat is a native of Cobh, County Cork. He has worked as an actor in Ireland for the past 21years. He began to write for the stage in 1997 and completed his first full length play TheNun’s Wood, which won a BBC Stewart Parker Trust Award '98 and was produced byFishamble: The New Play Company. Fishamble then produced his second play The Plainsof Enna which premiered at the 1999 Dublin <strong>Theatre</strong> Festival. Since then he has writtenThe Death of Herod for Mysteries 2000 at the SFX. A production of his piece EvangelineElsewhere premiered in New York as part of the 1st Irish <strong>Theatre</strong> Festival in Sept. 08. Pat iscurrently touring the world with his solo theatre piece Forgotten (Irish Times <strong>Theatre</strong>Award Nominee 08) also produced by Fishamble. He has already performed Forgotten tohuge acclaim throughout Ireland and in Paris, Prague, Romania, Turkey, Bulgaria,Edinburgh, Liverpool, Iceland, Washington, Boston, New York and Los Angeles.Fishamble: The New Play Company is a multi award-winning, internationally acclaimedcompany, at the heart of new writing for theatre in Ireland. Over the past 23 years,Fishamble has produced numerous plays by first-time and established playwrights andbrought this work to audiences throughout Ireland as well as to England, Scotland, USA,Canada, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, France, Germany, Iceland and the Czech Republic.Recent work includes Tiny Plays for Ireland by 25 writers, Forgotten by Pat Kinevane, ThePride of Parnell Street by Sebastian Barry and The End of the Road, a site-specificproduction by Louise Lowe and Gavin Kostick.
