When required, the wood we use comes
from sustainable resources with a
confirmed ‘‘chain of custody’’ through
the CSA (Canadian Standards
Association)/FSC (Forest Stewardship
Council)/SFI (Sustainable Forestry
Initiative).
Levolux generally recommends
Western Red Cedar, air-dried vertical
grain No.2 clear and better only for
exterior applications, as it is:
Readily available.
Stable and durable.
Relatively light weight.
Able to be installed without the
application of any surface finish
(And over time, it takes on an
attractive silvery grey colour).
Other species of wood can be
considered - including Siberian Larch,
European Oak and most recently
Thermowood.
Support components
Aluminum: in mill, anodised, or polyester
powder coated finish.
Steel: as stainless steel or mild steel
with a galvanised and/or multi-pack
paint finish.

System Construction
The main components of the Levolux
Wood Louver System are:
First fix bracket, support arms, and support
structure - in steel or extruded aluminum.
Wood Louvers - one-piece solid wood
sections up to a maximum width of12 inches.
Laminated, wider Louvers can be produced
following discussion.
In all cases, the option exists to join Louvers
edge to edge to achieve large widths or
to combine them with steel or aluminum
creating a visually less dense construction.
Walkway (optional) - extruded aluminium
‘J’ sections for maintenance.
Controls (optional) - various types are
available to provide manual, motorised
or a fully automated system.
Below are some of the Wood Louver
profiles which have been previously used.
Other shapes can be supplied or fabricated
depending on the need of the project.
The Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence (CEME) in
Rainham, Essex has been fitted with a total of 600 Levolux Wood Louvers.
The Western Red Cedar Louvers, which were 11 x 2 inches were used in
10 foot bays along the 500 foot length of the curved façade.

China Shipping’s HQ at Felixstowe has 12 inch wide x10foot long elliptical
Western Red Cedar Louvers, mounted horizontally between bespoke
one-piece tapered columns which measure 33 feet in height, as well as 4 levels
of 12 inch vertically mounted Louvers on its curved façade.

The Visage building at Swiss Cottage has 4 levels of 15 inch vertically stacked
Wood Louvers fitted to 3 elevations. A total of 165 Levolux Wood Louver
panels were also installed at roof level in widths of up to 16 feet.
