Word Master
TM Abdul Jaleel introduced the word ‘Beckon’ which
means to signal (someone) with your arm or hand in
order to tell that person to come closer or follow. A
Round Robin session was then conducted during which
the word was used.
Project Speech Session
P1 Ice Breaker by TM Manoj (from Pentair TMC)
‘It is not about what all you can do, it is about what you choose
to do’....This is how our speaker broke the ice. The speaker took
the decision to face his fear of public speaking. TM Manoj
introduced himself and we can already see the humor potential
in him and also his determination in becoming a public speaker.
Born in a small city of the Tamil Nadu State, in his teen years, he
had more street presence than a homeless person. He shared his
journey when he had to move to Chennai and initially struggled
with the new
`TM
environment.
Madhavi
He went from being an average
student to a top student. He loves Heavy Metal, Japanese
animes & sitcoms. His dream is that one day, when googling his
name, people should find his articles.
Mock Evaluation Contest
Target Speaker - TM Srinedhi from Pentair TMC
‘Foreign Education is daylight robbery’ - wow, what an
analogy. The speaker compared foreign universities to cows
who are getting fat, fat and fatter (universities getting richer,
richer & richer). TM Surekha The speaker does not see the necessity for
students to go abroad and in his opinion, it is shameful and
disgraceful to waste the parents hard earned money. With an
average cost of $100,000, foreign university admission can be
compared Excepteur to getting sint occaecat a country club admission. Industries are
hiring Ut skills, enim not ad minim degrees. veniam, TM quis Srinedhi’s point that the new
generation should focus on learning practical skills rather than
nostrud exercitation ullamco
investing in foreign postgrad degrees. As he said, the best
learning laboris happens nisi ut on aliquip the job. ex Eye ea opening speech!
What happened to these TMs on Valentine’s Day
TM Karthik Keyan
When he proposed the
first time on Valentine’s
Day with such a shy &
nervous voice hiding
behind a restaurant
menu, his wife answered
‘two idli, one vada’
TM Rayyan
Not a big fan of
Valentine’s Day, in college,
he was taken by surprise
with another fellow student
who unfortunately was not
his type and scared him
away.
TM Leo D’Souza
TM Leo was such a Casanova
(many girlfriends) that he had
to propose 3 times to his wife
on Valentine’s Day before she
finally accepted. He got
married on Valentine’s Day
and his son is also born on
Valentine’s Day.
TM Chandrashekar
As our President said Valentines
is the 2nd largest festival after
Christmas. Red Roses, Red
Hearts reminds his of Valentines.
As the 5 mn break was over, we
couldn’t hear the end:)
Mock Evaluation Contestants
TM Hanif TM Sashi TM Sonali TM Aravind
The evaluator found
the speech fantastic
with a message. TM
Hanif recommended to
add humor, more voice
modulation and work
on the usage of the
stage. The evaluator
enjoyed the speech
and the value he got
out of it.
The evaluator said the
speech was mindblowing
and removed
all the misconceptions
he may have had
about foreign
e d u c a t i o n . O n e
recommendation from
TM Sashi was on the
body language.
Communication is an
art and a skill is how
TM Sonali started. The
evaluator was
i m p r e s s e d b y t h e
perfect analogy. The
evaluator appreciated
the language, diction
and content of the
speec h. TM Sonali
recommended to add
personal stories and
work on body
movement.
TM Aravind congratulated
the speaker on opening
our eyes about foreign
and for being a confident
speaker. The evaluator
analyzed the value,
structure & delivery of the
speech. TM Aravind
mentioned it was an high
value speech however
suggested to the speaker
to differentiate between
facts and opinions, add
stories & dramatize.
Evaluation of Speech 1 by TM Abhilash
His first evaluation Brilliant job! The
evaluator enjoyed the idioms used by
the speaker. As he said, a small
idiom says a lot of things. TM
Abhilash appreciated the humor in
the speech. The evaluator saw that
the speaker was beyond the ice
breaker level and suggested to slow
down for the punch lines to have a
better impact.
General Evaluation by TM Leo D’Souza
TM Leo’s General Evaluation could
have counted for an Educational
session as he reminded the important
items in evaluations. The ‘Analytical’
part is very important and the
evaluator needs to identify the
speech’s specifics. Analytical is 40
marks. Evaluators need to get their
feeling out. Evaluators should see if
the speaker used voice modulations,
facts and figures. Evaluators need to
persuade by their point of view.
Lastly, always summarize - 15 points!
Contestants, you must be all set to
evaluate after this session!
