1. Major Programme<br />
S6/S7 <strong>students</strong><br />
Students are required <strong>to</strong> complete a m<strong>in</strong>imum of 69 units of courses and <strong>to</strong> participate <strong>in</strong> one academic year (not<br />
less than eight calendar months) of resident study <strong>in</strong> Japan before graduation. However, with the approval from the<br />
Department, <strong>students</strong> can apply <strong>to</strong> take the exist<strong>in</strong>g local study scheme+ if they have strong justifications or when<br />
resident study <strong>in</strong> Japan is not possible due <strong>to</strong> unpredictable circumstances such as prevalence of SARS or a drastic<br />
decrease of exchange quota.<br />

Students are required <strong>to</strong> study <strong>in</strong> Japan for one academic year at universities<br />
recognized by this University and complete <strong>Japanese</strong> language and <strong>Japanese</strong><br />
<strong>Studies</strong> courses with prior approval from the Department of <strong>Japanese</strong> <strong>Studies</strong><br />
before graduation. Units obta<strong>in</strong>ed from <strong>Japanese</strong> universities will be recognized as<br />
up <strong>to</strong> 23 Major units. Academic results obta<strong>in</strong>ed from <strong>Japanese</strong> universities will not<br />
be <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> the calculation of the Major GPA. Students who are unable <strong>to</strong> obta<strong>in</strong><br />
required units <strong>in</strong> <strong>Japanese</strong> universities may complete the rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g units after their<br />
return <strong>to</strong> this University.<br />

they have strong justifications or when resident study <strong>in</strong> Japan<br />
is not possible due <strong>to</strong> unpredictable circumstances such as<br />
restrictions on travel due <strong>to</strong> epidemic outbreaks or limitations<br />
of exchange places. Units obta<strong>in</strong>ed from <strong>Japanese</strong> universities<br />
will be recognized as up <strong>to</strong> 20 Major units. Academic results<br />
obta<strong>in</strong>ed from <strong>Japanese</strong> universities will not be <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong> the<br />
calculation of the Major GPA. Students who are unable <strong>to</strong><br />
obta<strong>in</strong> required units <strong>in</strong> <strong>Japanese</strong> universities may complete the<br />
