Monday 10 th September
Tonight you’re part of Global Rock Challenge, an Australian initiative
that now involves students in New Zealand, Japan, Germany,
Denmark and the UK.
The students will be hitting the stage tonight embracing positive and
healthy lifestyle choices.
The 2012 Australian tour will be raising the roof of eight of the
nation’s top performance venues. More than 11,000 students
participate in 14 shows across Australia to and an audience of close to
40,000! Rock Eisteddfod Challenge® and J Rock are this year’s
biggest school based dance and drama extravaganzas.
Rock Eisteddfod Challenge® encourages students to be their best
without the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Whilst it has adapted
and evolved since 1980, the core goal is unchanged. Our primary
vision is to achieve social change through the use of the arts by
inspiring creative thinking among the youth who shape our future.
With students, teachers, parents and communities working together
helping to prepare each school’s performance, we are positive that
we are achieving our goal. J Rock is a non-competitive event, every
school leaves a winner. Our aim and focus is to teach students to have
fun and learn the benefits of eating healthy food and being active.
Tonight you will witness the power of youth creativity and expression.
So get excited, have fun, get your feet stamping and hands clapping
for the 2012 Rock Eisteddfod Challenge® and J Rock!
DESCRIPTION: Our theme celebrates difference in musical interest. We explore 4 different genres of music
(Pop, Country, Dance and Rock). Although people have their differences in the types of music they like, we
all connect through our love for music and dance. We are connecting popular music of the past to popular
music of the present through music, costuming and set.
