Job Description: <strong>Carpenter</strong> <strong>Foreman</strong><br />

Classification: Full-Time, Permanent, Union Employee<br />

Job Duties: Listed below but not limited to the following:<br />

SUMMARY: Performs, supervises and directs work by crews involved in carpentry and<br />

structures construction for roadway, bridge, utility and building projects.<br />

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be<br />

assigned.<br />

• Ability to read and interpret relevant construction documents and drawings<br />

• Construct and install formwork and related carpentry for a wide variety of structures<br />

including retaining walls, bridges, buildings and utility projects<br />

• Ability to successfully manage, schedule, and coordinate multiple crews performing<br />

structures work.<br />

• Adhere to job specifications and quality standards.<br />

• Understand and manage project budget and schedule for structures work.<br />

• Coordinate with superintendents, engineers, vendors and subcontractors.<br />

• Drive safely for extended hours to and from the work, and on the jobsite.<br />

• Ability to conduct site walks throughout the day to coordinate and observe work as<br />

required.<br />

• Adhere to and promote <strong>Brutoco</strong> safety culture and procedures<br />

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises one or more crews of 2 to 10 individuals at<br />

any given time.<br />

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform<br />

each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the<br />

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:<br />

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred<br />

• 5 years experience as journeyman carpenter in construction<br />

• Union employee<br />

LANGUAGE SKILLS:<br />

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, plans and specifications<br />

• Ability to write routine reports and documentation.

• Ability to verbally communicate with crews, superintendents, engineers, inspectors<br />

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of<br />

measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.<br />

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of<br />

variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule<br />

form.<br />

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use<br />

reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance;<br />

stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25<br />

pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by<br />

this job include peripheral vision and depth perception.<br />

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are<br />

The employee must work in outdoor conditions on a construction site.<br />

The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; work in high,<br />

precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The<br />

noise level in the work environment is usually loud.<br />
