FASTER FREIGHT – CLEANER AIR CALIFORNIA 2009
Sustainable growth for the goods movement industry with a focus on
the technologies, policies, and strategies that make it possible.
Now in its sixth year as the nation’s premier conference on freight mobility and air quality, Faster Freight – Cleaner Air
(FFCA) returns to Long Beach in 2009 with a sharp focus on the preeminent issues facing the goods movement industry
today. While California continues to be recognized as a leader in the implementation of progressive clean air policies,
the combined forces of variable economic conditions, expanding regulatory policies, and emerging technologies are yet
again changing what a sustainable business model looks like in our industry.
FFCA California agenda topics pursue a profound examination of where
potential improvements lie across a variety of modes of transport. This year’s
conference will closely examine a variety of key themes including how the
goods movement industry:
• Meets challenges posed by freight congestion, energy and the
economy while advancing goals to improve air quality and
combat climate change;
• Evaluates their carbon footprint through emission models and
inventories and manages policy and regulatory implications of
greenhouse gases and climate change;
• Intends to promote energy security through innovation and
alternative energy options;
• Can reduce the impact on climate change by implementing
green infrastructure design and development, emission
control technologies and sustainable development;
• Is taking steps to reduce the supply chain carbon footprint;
• Moves forward with the implementation of clean truck programs
and alternatives; and,
• Explores new funding opportunities to support costs for clean
air technologies that will provide long-term community and
economic benefits.
