Cincinnati’s Ronald McDonald House does not receive any city, state or federal grant funds and is not funded by the
United Way. McDonald’s and their customers generously provide 12 percent of our operating budget. The remaining
88 percent of our annual budget comes from private sources, and we are indebted to the corporations, foundations
and generous individuals who have helped us provide thousands of families with a “home away from home.”
2011 Red Tie Gala:
OLD HOLLYWOOD
Our House raises about 10 percent of our
annual budget each year at our Gala.
Over 800 people took a stroll through old Hollywood
at our 2011 Red Tie Gala, presented by PNC Bank. On
October 1, 2011, our wonderful donors joined us at the
Hyatt Regency for an evening of dinner and cocktails,
dancing, bidding on unique auction items, and
sponsoring House guest families through our Adopt a
Family program.
We also honored Chip Klosterman at the event, who
is the 2011 Ronald McDonald House Heart Award
recipient. Chip is President of Klosterman Baking
Company, serves on the Advisory Board of our Ronald
McDonald House and was a former board chairman.
Chip has also been a generous supporter of our guest
families for many years.
A special thanks to MJ Guttman and Jessica Levine
who co-chaired the event and whose talented
committee made sure our guests were treated to a
beautiful evening.
The Heart of our HOUSE
In 2010, volunteers donated
68,184 hours of service, valued
at approximately $1.26 million.

Because of our extensive volunteer
network, we are able to make our
valuable financial resources stretch even
further. Our volunteers work the front
desk, give tours to new guest families,
help with administrative projects, and
clean the guest rooms and common
areas. But most importantly, our
volunteers provide so much for our guest
families, including meals, activities, arts
and crafts, entertainment and emotional
support through the most difficult days.
People of all ages give of their time,
including families with young children,
high school students in our VolunTEEN
program, and adults and senior citizens.
Our over 10,000 volunteers truly are the
heart of our House.
You Can Give the Gift of
HOME, HEALTH AND HOPE
this Holiday Season
Become a Meal Volunteer and provide a much-needed break
to families who are supporting their sick children and often
don’t have the time, funds or energy to prepare a healthy,
home-cooked meal.
Adopt a Family by helping cover the difference between what
they can afford and what it costs us to provide a “home away
from home.” In 2010, the average amount families were able
to contribute was $11.24/day (which includes third-party billings
to insurance companies and Medicaid). However, it costs
$90/day, per family, to provide the support, amenities and other
services we offer. Adopt one long-term guest family for a year
for $3,000, two families for $5,000 or three families for $10,000.
Adopt a Room and assist our guest families with the cost of
their lodging. Most families cannot afford a hotel for weeks
or months, especially under the financial stress of mounting
medical bills. Help ensure that families are not sleeping in the
hospital lobby, in their child’s hospital room or even in their cars.
Adopt a small room for a year for $3,000, a medium room for
$5,000 or a transplant suite for $10,000. You can adopt a room
in honor of clients, family or friends this holiday season.
Help us fulfill our Wish List and keep our House stocked with
the basic necessities a home requires. Our biggest needs are
disinfectant wipes, disinfectant sprays like Lysol, 13- or 40-gallon
trash can liners, salty snacks or any size ziplock bags. Or, visit

wish list. Know that your gift helps alleviate yet another worry
for our families, allowing them to focus entirely on their child’s
welfare.
Helping Families
ONE TAB AT A TIME
In 2010, our House raised
over $16,500 by recycling
pull tabs.
You can help us raise more! Our
House recently partnered with Cohen
Recycling Centers to grow our pull tab
program. Tab donors can now take
their tabs – or even whole cans – to
any Cohen Recycling location and
proceeds will be mailed directly to our
House. With seven convenient, drivethrough
locations, this partnership will
make it even easier for our tab donors
to help support our families. Tabs can
also be dropped off at our House any
day for recycling with our other partner,
Moskowitz Brothers, Inc.
