TITLE<br />
Summer Camp Intern<br />
SUMMARY<br />
To provide a fun, interactive, and educational time for children residing at Ronald McDonald House<br />
during the <strong>summer</strong>. We are looking for an <strong>intern</strong> who can plan lessons, activities, and/or games for a<br />
two hour <strong>summer</strong> <strong>camp</strong>, Monday-Friday. The children could be patients or siblings.<br />
The <strong>intern</strong> will prepare detailed lesson plans with an appropriate balance of independent and teacherdirected<br />
activities, a broad range of experiences, and frequent opportunities for children to make<br />
choices about what they do. Assure that materials and equipment are available to support planned<br />
activities.<br />
JOB QUALIFICATIONS<br />
Two years of college in a related field (education, child development, recreation, family social<br />
sciences) and one years’ experience working with children in group care<br />
First aid/CPR: preference given to candidates with pediatric first aid training<br />
Demonstrated experience working with children<br />
Ability to teach and lead various recreational activities<br />
Excellent character, integrity and adaptability<br />
Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control<br />
Loves kids!<br />

POSITION REQUIREMENTS<br />
Plan lessons for 2 hours a day, Monday-Friday<br />
Facilitate and lead the lessons/activities<br />
Offer assistance and be available to answer any questions<br />
Create fliers each week of the lessons planned to advertise in the House<br />
Do surveys with families and provide feedback to Operations Director<br />
Explore opportunities for local groups and organizations to come out and participate<br />
Take primary responsibility for the health, well-being and happiness of <strong>camp</strong>ers<br />
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS<br />
Be able to walk, bend, stand, squat or sit on the floor (with children) throughout an 8-hour day<br />
Be able to physically respond quickly in an emergency<br />
Be actively engaged and involved with children each day; including planning daily outdoor time<br />
in all ranges of temperatures or humidity levels, subject to safety guidelines<br />
