Day 1: Saturday <strong>28</strong> Sept<br />

London to Tel Aviv<br />

Overnight flight, with our cycling companions, from London – Tel Aviv.<br />

Day 2: Sunday 29 Sept<br />

Jerusalem<br />

We arrive in the early hours of Sunday morning and transfer<br />

to our accommodation in Jerusalem. After breakfast we will<br />

do our bike fitting and, time permitting there will be a guided<br />

optional tour of the Old City. At night we will see the City of<br />

Jerusalem in a completely different way, discover hidden<br />

gems and soak up the ancient atmosphere of the city - by<br />

Day 3: Monday 30 Sept<br />

Hula Valley – Ein Gev<br />

Approx. 66km (12km off-road)<br />

We have a 3 hour transfer to Hagoshrim in the Hula Valley, and head south at the base of the<br />

Golan Heights, where we cycle to Gadot. Then it’s off road along the mountainous Jordan<br />

Valley for 12km. From here, the route descends to the northern tip of the Sea of Galilee. We<br />

end our day’s cycle at Kibbutz Hotel Ein Gev on the eastern shore of the Sea of Galilee.<br />

Day 4: Tuesday 1 Oct<br />

Around the Sea of Galilee<br />

Approx. 62km<br />

Today will do a full circle along the shores of the Sea of<br />

Galillee<br />

Overnight: Kibbutz Hotel Ein Gev<br />

Day 5: Wednesday 2 Oct<br />

Galilee – Belvoir - Sachne Springs<br />

Approx. 64km<br />

We start cycling along the Sea of Galilee shore to Zemach Junction. From here we cycle south<br />

for 14km followed by a steep 5km climb on a small road to Belvoir National Park - a crusader<br />

fortress with stunning views across the Jordan Valley. Our destination this afternoon is Sachne<br />

National Park. Then - an opportunity not to be missed, a refreshing swim to cool off in the<br />

beautiful setting of Sachne Springs, a series of rock pools in the Harod stream. Time permitting<br />

we can visit the ancient synagogue at Beit Alpha, where you'll see a beautiful mosaic, depicting<br />

biblical scenes including the sacrifice of Isaac. The most impressive part of the mosaic is the<br />

large zodiac wheel with the names and pictures of each of the twelve signs. We stay overnight<br />

near the slopes of Mount Gilboa.<br />

Day 6: Thursday 3 Oct<br />

Mt Gilboa - Zichron Yaacov<br />

Approx 78km<br />

Today we climb two mountain ranges Mount Gilboa which<br />

is part of the lower Galilee’s eastern gateway. One of the<br />

Galilee’s most scenic regions, this 500-metre-high ridge is<br />

the site where King Saul and his sons, Jonathan,<br />

Abinadav and Malkishua died after a battle with the<br />

Philisitines (1 Sam. 31:2-7). We continue to Mt Carmel &<br />

Zichron Yaacov, founded in 1882 by Baron Edmond<br />

James de Rothschild. Time permitting we will visit the Ramat Hanadiv memorial garden where<br />

Baron Edmond de Rothschild has been laid to rest.<br />

Day 7: Friday 4 Oct<br />

Tel Aviv<br />

Approx 85km<br />

Cycle via the Sharon plain section of the Mediterranean<br />

coastal plain, and the most densely settled of <strong>Israel</strong>’s<br />

natural regions. We will cycle along small roads and<br />

some off road towards Tel Aviv. Tel Aviv is known as the<br />

“White City”, a world cultural heritage site We enter the<br />

city and the last part of our day will be cycling along the<br />

banks of the Yaarkon River and onto the Tel Aviv<br />

Promenade.<br />

Day 8: Saturday 5 Oct<br />

Tel Aviv<br />

Free time to explore the city, relax or head for the beach and unwind.<br />

Day 9: Sunday 6 Oct<br />

Tel Aviv to London<br />

Transfer to Tel Aviv airport for our flight back to the UK.
