Character Animation in an Animated Television Production
Mark donald – B.O.B.’s Big Break – dreamworks Animation
Scotsman Mark Donald began in animation 12 years ago, working at Scotland’s Digital
Animations. After several years as lead character animator on the Tomb Raider video-game
series at Core Design, Mark went to Texas-based ReelFX to work on features (such as The Wild
and Everyone’s Hero). Mark’s work at PDI/DreamWorks includes Shrek the Third, Bee Movie and
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. He is currently a supervising animator on Megamind.
Mark Mitchell – Prep and Landing – walt disney Animation studios
Animator Mark Mitchell joined Disney Animation in 1995 as a Cleanup Breakdown Artist
on The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He went on to lend his talents to Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan,
The Emperor’s New Groove, Treasure Planet and Home on the Range. Mark transitioned from
hand-drawn to computer animation for Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons, and Bolt. He was
supervising animator on Prep and Landing, and is currently working on Rapunzel.
kevan shorey – Merry Madagascar – dreamworks Animation
Kevan Shorey began as an animator at PDI/DreamWorks on Shrek 2. A Wales native,
Kevan was first exposed to CG while studying animation at Bournemouth University.
His student films were spotted by representatives of PDI/DreamWorks and, after a brief
stint at London’s Double Negative, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to join
DreamWorks. His most recent project is How to Train Your Dragon.
tony smeed – Prep and Landing – walt disney Animation studios
Minnesota native Tony Smeed joined Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1996 as an
animator on Dinosaur. Tony provided his animation talents for many projects at Disney
including Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons, Bolt, Super Rhino and Prep and Landing. Tony
is currently working as an animator on Disney’s 50th animated feature film and first
computer animated fairy tale, the 2010 release Rapunzel.
Philip to – Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space –
dreamworks Animation
Melbourne native Philip To graduated from University of New South Wales. Philip
worked for a couple of studios in Sydney before heading abroad to Framestore CFC in
London, where he worked on The Golden Compass and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince
Caspian. He is currently working at PDI/DreamWorks in the Bay Area, with credits on
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and Monsters vs. Aliens.
