Based in Seattle, Crosscut is an independent,
not-for-profit entity whose mission is to produce
journalism in the public interest. As a forum where

and opinion. Crosscut is a general-interest news
site, with coverage ranging over politics, business,

public education for all children.
SkillUp Washington
SkillUp builds partnerships and promotes policies
that support postsecondary education for lowincome
working adults in order to increase their
advancement into family-supporting jobs and
employer access to a qualified workforce. In its
first major project, SkillUp’s College for Working
Adults is a demonstration project involving King
County community colleges to test the feasibility
of new educational strategies tailored to meet the
needs of working adults, including compressed
classroom time, simpler class registration and
scheduling, comprehensive support services, and
job search and job placement assistance.
