This presentati<strong>on</strong> is embedded in a larger project for the Austrian<br />

Federal Railways (ÖBB) to analyse the <str<strong>on</strong>g>flood</str<strong>on</strong>g> risk <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> rail <strong>infrastructure</strong>.<br />

<br />

The network <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) are affected by<br />

several risks due to various natural hazards.<br />

<br />

The 2006 <str<strong>on</strong>g>flood</str<strong>on</strong>g> event <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the March River caused extensive <str<strong>on</strong>g>damage</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

and led to a closure <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the Austrian Northern Railway Line for several<br />

m<strong>on</strong>ths. Replacement transport services were necessary.<br />
