Welcome to the 2015 Australian National Morgan Show
This event, a celebration of the Morgan horse, is being held in Western Australia for
the first time. We are delighted to be able to showcase this wonderful breed at the magnificent
Brookleigh Equestrian Estate.
We would like to welcome and acknowledge our special guests, Bill and Yda Tomsett,
who imported the first Morgan, the highly acclaimed stallion Sumicaro Beau Geste,
from Canada into WA in 1986. We hope you get the chance to catch up with them
over the weekend to talk Morgans.
Welcome to our visitors who have flown in from around Australia to be here at the
Perth ANMS. We hope you enjoy our wonderful state and take home many stories
about our special horses back with you.
We also welcome our judges who will be working hard over the weekend to ensure we
have a great competition.
Thankyou to the competitors who have travelled from near and far with their Morgans
to be part of this event. Good luck and we hope you leave with fond memories and lots
of ribbons.
In addition the people who have organised this weekend deserve a huge thankyou. The
Show Secretary Valerie Bremen and her team of hardworking people have spent many
months planning for and preparing this show. In particular we would like to
acknowledge Kath Hare, Rachel Whan, Trish Gordon, Debbie Dowden and Leonie Pallentine.
There are many other who have worked behind the scenes to make this day

The Helen Perry Memorial Trophy
Helen Perry’s association with Morgans goes back to the Aura
Dell stud and working for the Reid’s at Aura Dell in
NSW. She was on the scene when the Saddleback horses were
imported. Helen then went on to build up her own stud using
the prefix HP.
Her broodmares were carefully chosen initially using Arabian
mares Aloha Godisha and Djemur Silver Sequin at her Roseberry
Park Farm, near Bingara NSW. She purchased her
dream pure bred mare Mt Tawonga Trillana (Wawayanda
Watch Out X Woodrun Trillium), unfortunately Trillana suffered
an accident in Victoria on her way to Helen, and she
had to be PTS. A substitute mare was offered by Mt Tawonga,
she was Mt Tawonga Ellie. Helen never had the attachment
and connection with this mare, as she did Trillana.
Helen campaigned HP Wind Dancer with a Reining trainer,
she out completed some well known Quarter Horses in her
day. Unfortunately Helen suffered a secondary melanoma in
the early 2000's and was taken from this world too early. The
Helen Perry memorial trophy was donated by Leonie Kable to
honour her life and association with the Morgan Horse, and
particularly her interest in the Western Discipline.
