Think about your ink
Tattoos are a piece of art that people put on
their bodyʼs to epxress themselves. Although it is a
painful process to go through that isnʼt stopping some
people now that tattoos are becoming more and more
popular. These pieces of art may come with consequences
at times if they are not done properly. Some
effects it can cause is AIDS if done with dirty needles
or tools and skin cancer to name a few.
People all have their different opinions about
tattoos. Some think its trashy and unprofessional.
While others find it either attracting, cool, meaningful,
or just donʼt really care at all.
You must be cautious where you place yourtattoos
because eventually it can catch up to you later
on in life in your professional life and some jobs
wonʼt hire you if they are revealing too much.
Tattoos arenʼt bad to have if theyʼre meaningful.
A lot of people end up getting tattoos when
theyʼre younger and they later tend to regret when
they get older. You need permission from a parent to
get a tattoo if you are underaged.
Remember: If you do get one make sure itʼs
one you wonʼt regret.
Your Voice: How do you feel about tattoos?
“Theyʼre okay, but
too many of them look ugly.”
Amanda Cavazos-10th
“I think theyʼre pretty
cool, and Iʼm looking forward
to getting one.
Tomas Arredondo-11th
“I think that tattoos are awesome!
They are a way of
expressing yourself. Stephen
Teranʼs are really cool!”
Carolina Nardini
Lady Trojans Soccer
Player
“Applying to different
colleges
here is easy.....
back home we
have to take a test
for every college
we want to consider
going to,”
Carolina said.
ʻOi meu nome e Carolina M. Nardiniʼ....
Far from home Carolina Nardini
has had to adapt to Americaʼs cultures,
way of life, and our school. Being
an exchange student from Campinas,
São Paulo in Brazil, Corpus Christi is
a whole new world for her. Her adventure
in Corpus Christi started January
15 and ends sometime in June.
“Everybody is nice and friendly
here, and the clothes are really cheap,”
said Nardini, very satisfied with the city.
But many things are different.
In Brazil, when people say hello
or hi they donʼt wave their hands
at each other like we do, they hug
and give small kisses on the cheek.
“We get to pick what times we
what to attend school, either 7 a.m. to 1
p.m. or 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.,” Nardini said.
Education is the main focus
in Nardiniʼs home town, though high
school there only lasts three years, not
four. Carolina is considered a senior
back home but yet here she is only a
junior. Much of her time after school
is spent on her studies before she
goes off to enjoy times with friends.
Hi My name is Caolina M.. Nardini....
“Applying to different colleges
here is easy, you fill out one application
and send it to whichever college
you want too. Back home we have to
take a test for every college we want
to consider going to,” Carolina said.
“After school many students,
including me, go to an English Class
to learn more of and about the English
language. Our parents think it is very
important for us to know how to speak
and read English, since it is a common
language used world-wide,” she said.
Carolina thought high school in
the United States was going to be how
it is in the movies, particularly Mean
Girls. Though when she got here she
realized it wasnʼt like that at all, but she
did notice one thing that was different,
and that was the amount of makeup
worn by girls. Girls in Brazil donʼt wear
make up on a daily basis, only on special
occasions if that. They are very natural
and not so high maintenance. Nardini
is a player on the Lady Trojans JV soccer
team, never having played soccer
before in her life. She enjoys spending
time with her teammates and experiencing
the competitive side of high school.
“Moody has lots of spirit
for their sports teams, especially
baseball,” Nardini said.
In schools back in Brazil there
is no competition, for instance no
football, no baseball, no sports at all.
“This experience is great,
and I would love to come back some
day to visit but Brazil is and always
will be my home,” she said.

Former student to clash with big name boxer
Many people are looking forward to the pay-perview
fight between Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosely
although Pacquiao is favored to win, but now there is another
reason to watch the fight, because a Moody alumni
is set to fight in the undercard.
Alfonso “El Tigre” Lopez who currently resides
in Cut and Shoot, Texas was born and raised in Corpus
Christi. He graduated from this very school in 2000. Lopez
whoʼs boxing record is 21-0-0(16 KOʼs) will face former
undisputed middleweight champion Kelly “The Ghost”
Pavlik whoʼs boxing record is 36-2-0(32 KOʼs) on May
7th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The super
middleweight fight is scheduled for 10 rounds. Lopez will
be coming to the May 7th bout looking to take out one of
the bigger names in the sport. This is a huge opportunity
for Lopez to put himself out there in the boxing world.
“This fight is definitely a big test; Iʼve seen Pavlik
fight before heʼs a great fighter who packs a punch. I am
excited for my brother; hopefully he will come out victorious,”
said senior Delfino Diaz brother of Lopez.
Tune in to the May 7 pay-per-view fight not only
to see the best pound for pound fighter Manny Pacquiao
in action, but to see a Corpus Christi native and Moody
alumni hopefully succeed in this tough fight.
Soccer teams end season in bi-district playoff
By Jeremy Olivo
Sports Editor
After clinching a playoff spot again, the boys
soccer team was hoping to extend their post season but
that was not to be after losing to the Flour Bluff Hornets
2-0 in the bi-district game.
They ended the regular season with a 5-4-2 record.
With Coach Leo Gonzales pushing his players
everyday to get better, the boys knew what they were
capable of.
“We set a goal at the beginning to make playoffs,
and each player were to write a individual goal of
their own to make them better. I always tell my boys
they have room to get better,” Coach Leo Gonzales said
about his team.
