State Convention at Mackinac Island May 2011
The convention was an exciting and full event, with activities
running almost constantly from 7:30 in the morning until
after 11:00 at night, including the hospitality suites.
The meetings were technically formal, as required, yet very
friendly and comfortable. The convention was fraternal in
nature. You could tell that may of the attendees had been
to the convention before and knew each other from other
District and Diocesan meetings. We felt very comfortable
and welcome.
There are over 300 councils in Michigan, about 200 were represented. All the Bishops of Michigan were present.
We met and had some brief discussions with our incoming pastor, Fr. Jeff Day, who is an avid supporter of the
Knights.
Some of the amazing memories of the event, beyond the pageantry, were the awards which were given to a number of
councils. Most of the recipient councils were not much different than our council. The awards mostly honored the fact
that the recipient Council cared about another Knight or family, and took the initiative and time to put on an event to
help someone in need.

The Annual St. Fabian Council Picnic

year it also served as a farewell for
our departing Chaplain Fr. Brian.

a beautiful Michigan evening of
food, fun, and camaraderie, as
