NOVEMBER 2014 – WHAT WENT ON<br />
There were 31 who attended our meeting and all but one were there to see Santa (alias Bruce<br />
Dennett) giving out little orchid gifts to everyone! He was ably assisted by his elf, Daryl!<br />
This also included two guests from the Sale Garden Club, which was nice to see!<br />
Popular Vote prizes for the year 2013/14 were given out, a bit late but showed the benefit <strong>of</strong><br />
bringing plants along. Remember, even just by bringing plants along, you receive points, and<br />
it also gives everyone a chance to look at different Club members’ work. More info below.<br />
First was Bruce Dennett, even though he missed a few meetings while away on holidays!<br />
Second was Peter Ayers and then Barb Hamilton was third. In the Novice category, Daryl<br />
Mills was the winner (but now he is out <strong>of</strong> novices, someone else can have a turn) and Ken<br />
Wigg was second.<br />
Bruce Dennett was awarded a Club Cultural Certificate and as were Barry and Beattie Khann<br />
for their champion orchid from the 2014 SADOC Show.<br />
It was the second Sarcochilus night and Barb Hamilton stole the show with most <strong>of</strong> the votes<br />
awarded from Harry for each colour/category.<br />
JANUARY 2015 – what’s happening this month<br />
President’s words<br />
For the January meeting - the pre-meeting learners group will commence at 6.30PM with<br />
Bruce Jeffery providing some sage instruction to the group.<br />
Club News<br />
No Club Plant this month, as it is always a quiet month January.<br />
Popular Vote count<br />
For those new to the Club, the votes from each <strong>of</strong> the monthly Popular Vote counts are<br />
compiled, with monetary prizes awarded at the end <strong>of</strong> each year. The number <strong>of</strong> plants can<br />
provide up to a maximum five points, but the more plants you bring, the more chances you<br />
are <strong>of</strong> scoring points toward the popular vote categories, as listed in each newsletter.<br />

For those with access to the internet, remember our Club website is hosted on the OSCOV<br />
site, and provides an easy link for anyone interested. Just control + click the following link:<br />
http://www.oscov.asn.au/sdoc/. Remember as well, if you have an email address, just let me<br />
know and we will save the price <strong>of</strong> printing and stamps!<br />
