NORTHAMPTON COUNTY D&L Trail – Freemansburg Towpath – this project is scheduled to go out for bid through PennDOT in early 2013 and should be completed by the fall. The project will install the trail on the towpath on the 1.5 mile Freemansburg section. D&L Trail – Freemansburg Pedestrian Bridge – bridge to be redecked and upgraded to be ADA accessible.
D&L Trail – Palmer to Hugh Moore Connector Project - working with our partners at the City of Easton, Wilson Borough and Palmer Township, this project will connect the aligned Palmer / D&L Trail with Hugh Moore Park and points southward. The project will be completed in late spring or early summer. As you can see, a lot is scheduled to be completed in 2013. In addition, several projects are currently in design or have been recently funded. They are as follows: CARBON COUNTY D&L Trail – Carbon County Pedestrian Bridge – the hope is that this project, literally the connection tying the 165 miles together, will be able to go out for bid mid-2013. While a few issues remain, I am confident they can be worked out and the bridge be installed in 2014. D&L Trail – Carbon County Connectivity Project – this recently approved project, with Carbon County as the applicant, will connect the remaining gaps in Carbon County. The scope includes “share the road” connectivity from the Lehigh Canal Trailhead at Weissport to Lehighton, an ADA connection from Lehighton to the D&L Trail, connection and crossing of Route 895 in East Penn Township down to the East Penn Boat Launch / D&L Trailhead. Design work will be going out for bid in January with construction hopefully getting under way later in the year. NORTHAMPTON COUNTY D&L Trail – Northampton to North Catasauqua Trailhead – this section of the trail still has land issues. Section has been surveyed and a proposed trail route identified.
