Proposed Community Consultation, Public Relations and Media Issues
Implementation of this proposal would provide an opportunity for Council to present
a positive, proactive face to the community, particularly in terms of potential
outcomes for at risk youth. There is potential for this proposal to draw other NGO
services to the area for the benefit of the broader community.
Budget/Financial Issues
Council’s current budget has an allocation of $16,000 for Carinya Education Park and
as the recommendation suggests that we don’t take owner ship until the 2013/14
Financial Year there will be not need to amend the current budget. The budget for
2013/14 will need to include the purchase price once known.
Policy Implications
Complies with and reinforces Council’s Youth Participation Policy.

1 That Council approve the taking over the ownership of 103 Blair Street, New
Norfolk (Carinya Education Park) from the State Government as from 1 July
2013.
2 That Council authorise the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and General Manager to
negotiate a purchase price for this site from the State Government.
3 That Council supports the development of the Business Enterprise Centre for a
Trade Training Centre subject to Council receiving a grant for this purpose.
