telecommunications company, Smart Axiata,<br />
also got in on the action, as they continued to<br />
push their ‘Sport for a Healthy Life’ campaign.<br />
The most recent incarnation of this campaign<br />
was the Valentine’s Day Fun Run.<br />
Smart asked couples to come to come<br />
together for celebratory run to make the<br />
annual day love. The 5km run commenced at<br />
6am from outside the Royal Palace with<br />
contestants finishing at City Hall on Diamond<br />
Island.<br />
Though these recent developments are<br />
small in nature, they could potential be the<br />
initial footsteps of a major shift in the mindset<br />
in how women are viewed in athletic<br />
endeavor for years to come. All in all, this<br />
means we could be in for some exciting times<br />
when Khmer women take to the competitive<br />
arena in the future.<br />
