2:: Substitutions of participants may be made at any time without additional cost provided the Institute is<br />

<strong>The</strong> Graduate Seminar series this year will include a presentation by a valuer at each seminar highlighting<br />

daily processes with the opportunity for attendees to ask questions. Designed to assist senior students and<br />

graduates in applying their theoretical and learned knowledge into practice, ensure you attend this series to<br />

cement important processes which will impress your current and future employers.<br />

<strong>The</strong> first seminar for the year considers budgeting for expenditure and recovery of outgoings in commercial and<br />

retail buildings. Lead by Mr. Bernie Sweeney F<strong>API</strong>, Director of Jones Lang LaSalle Advisory this is an invaluable<br />

opportunity to learn practical knowledge from an experienced valuer and is highly important for Provisional<br />

Members preparing for their <strong>API</strong> Professional Interview.<br />

Specialist Retail Valuer<br />

All Valuers are invited to partake in this course with the successful completion of this course to become a<br />

condition of an appointment as a Determinations undertaken in accordance with the Retail Leases Act (RLA).<br />

Completion of the Specialist Retail Valuer Professional Certificate has also been approved as advanced<br />

standing credit for Deakin Property and Real Estate students. <strong>The</strong> course is endorsed by the Small Business<br />

Commissioner and the <strong>API</strong> has trademarked the title “<strong>API</strong> Accredited Specialist Retail Valuer”. <strong>The</strong> title will be<br />

available for use by those who have successfully completed the course, the accreditation process and meet<br />

the requirements as set out in the RLA. <strong>The</strong> three day interactive workshop includes a detailed examination<br />

of the RLA, legal issues, the determination process (inspection, analysis of evidence, determinations and<br />

report writing), case studies and a retail market overview.<br />
